ISW Update 1/26/23

https://www.understandingwar.org/bac...anuary-26-2023

Quote:
Jan 26, 2023 - Press ISW

Russian forces launched another massive series of missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on January 26. Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Valery Zaluzhnyi stated that Russian forces launched 55 air- and sea-based missiles, including Kh-101, Kh-555, Kh-47, and Kh-95 Kalibr and Kinzhal missiles at Ukraine from Tu-95, Su-35, and MiG-31K aircraft from the waters of the Black Sea. Ukrainian air defense shot down 47 of the 55 missiles and all 24 Shahed 136 and 131 drones. Several missiles struck critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia and Odesa oblasts. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov notably reported that Russian forces had 90 Iranian-made drones remaining as of January 7. Russian forces have enough drones for only a few more large-scale strikes unless they have received or will soon receive a new shipment of drones from Iran. Russian Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran on January 23 to expand bilateral cooperation efforts, conversations that may have included discussions on the provision of Iranian-made weapons systems to Russia.

I am sure many are still active here. This war is bringing them out of the woods to spread disinformation and to divide America.

On Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock ignited a firestorm of debate when she stated that Western allies are fighting a war against Russia - causing many to suggest that she essentially 'declared war' on Russia, and contradicting the official stance by saying the quiet part out loud.
No wonder this war has been raging for much longer than anyone expected.

Russia is basically fighting the entire NATO/Western alliance.

World War 3 now looks more and more likely.

Russians in Kazakhstan were stopped and forced to remove the "Z" from their car. Since Putin belittled the country and referred to Kazakhstan as a "gift from The Soviet Union - not a country at all", Kazakhs are very wary of a Putin ruled Russia.
As a form of reply, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the president of Kazakhstan, told Putin that Kazakhstan government did not recognize Russian-controlled regions in eastern Ukraine and that Kazakhstan upheld the inviolability of internationally recognized borders.

Kazakhstan will no longer allow Russian citizens to stay in the country indefinitely by doing so-called visa runs every three months, according to a government directive.
Tens of thousands of Russian fled to Kazakhstan in 2022. Their status is now in question.

Russia and Kazakhstan have had good relations up until now. Putin, it appears, is becoming increasingly toxic to Russia.

That's what Putin says. Except he is actually fighting 70 countries, not 25.

But I don't believe it. Russia would be crushed immediately. Nukes would not even be necessary.

Let's hope Putin won't invade them to protect "oppressed ethnic Russians".
