FYI - does not require aviation fuel.

However the M1's turbine engine would need another training line to bring up maintainers to keep a small tank fleet running. Although I would guess that some aviation maintenance personnel whose aircraft no longer exist can be transferred to the effort it would be better that those working on the diesels of all the other equipment in the combat teams could also work on the tanks when they come back for work.

The amount of maintenance is undoubtedly high, but professionals seem to think it is not out of reach of the Ukrainian military.

^^Gen (ret) Mick Ryan was an Australian M1A1 tank brigade commander, so he has an informed professional opinion.

Col. McGregor. 157k dead Ukrainians , I seen videos last night of kids fighting for the Ukrainian army. Russia has amassed 700k troops. They are firing 60k rockets and Artillary per day. The Ukrainians are only firing about 6k. The Ukraianians are currently shelling civilian targets .

IMO, This war is lost once the offensive by Russia is launched. I am guessing the fall of Ukraine will be sometime this summer. With a massive Refugee Crisis engoulfing Europe. Whether our NEOcon leaders are dumb enough to engage Russia directly is another story, because they are not prepared to fight a war against Russia.

This is a border dispute, meaning Russia is at the border, this isn't some checkers game you win and it's over, everyone goes home.

Ukraine and Russia need to come to the table and decide how to end this.
Pure hyperbole. If you actually have any ideas, you should express them.

Putin's plan does not appear to be gaining much traction,
Ditto. Ukrainians will decide, not some random poster on CD.
Putin seels this war as the war against the "West". If it wins, it will be convinced it has defeated the "West", and can defeat it in the next conflicts. Its appetites will grow. This will open the perspective of WWIII. Russia's defeat is the only chance to avoid it.
Russia has also threatened Kazakhstan, telling them there was really no such thing as Kazakhstan and the country was only formed as a gift from Soviet Union.

Perhaps but worth the additional effort is the question. It is like a better fighting tank than the M4 Sherman could have been used by the allies during WWII but the cost would have meant more maintenance, more engineers to improve roads and fewer tanks on battlefields because of limited shipping

..... Aaaaand in the very beginning he reports about 16,000 Russian dead. Anyone buy that?

The Colonel is an interesting nutcase. He has always felt Ukraine would lose and said so in Feb, and in fact in 2014 supported Russia's right to "reclaim" Crimea. Check his Youtube videos.
The summer of 1997 marked the third time the Army refused to put him in command of a combat brigade, a virtual death warrant for his Army career, relegating him to staff jobs as a colonel for the remainder of his service.
His opinions have included:
*In 2016 he predicted NATO may vanish
*He repeatedly advocated instituting martial law at the US/Mexico border and to “shoot people” if necessary.
* He was opposed to US intervention in the Kosovo War. Went on Russian TV to promote his idea.
* Has opined there were more White Irish slaves than Black ones

He has a PhD in International relations. Unfortunately, he is a nutcase. A good student, but a nutcase.
