Wonder how civilization survived without public schools?
God forbid parents teach their own kids.
Civilization will sooner survive without masks than without schools. Hypochondriacs can invest in space suits. Be afraid of tiny viruses! Very afraid !
This topic is about very early childhood/pre schoolers and language. I am not addressing anything other than 1-3 year olds.
And there are clear masks that don't fog so badly. You wear a filter on your back. Good early childhood teachers are very aware of the facial expression and language.
Elementary on up is a whole other thing. Most 2nd graders already have a vocabulary.
IMO, fewer students in a classroom who limit their contacts would be the best. And I am aware of some parents who started small group home schooling.
You can get down off your high horse.
I wear those at work, in some instances. The filter does cause noise. While not loud, it still interferes with hearing human voices.
There is no substitute for unobstructed face to face communication. Especially during development of language.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as knowing about how many words a child should know at a certain age.
Funny thing though, I think we have that instinct in us to know when something isn't right with a child.
I have a 2nd cousin that about 8 months after she was born, we had this sinking feeling something wasn't right. She smiled and hugged us, but she wasn't talking and seemed oblivious to certain things that would have excited most kids. The mother finally took her to a specialist, and after some tests, it was confirmed. She's autistic. Hmmm, I wonder why the doctor didn't pick up on this when she went in for her 6th month evaluation.
People truly have no understanding of how these agencies work, or how any type of medical guidelines are put together.
Any time I've tried to point it out I get insults, "conspiracy theorist" of course.
And this one is pretty cut and dried. Mask wearing has cause developmental deficiencies in speech.
Instead of acknowledging that, CDC just changes the guideline. Parent are none the wiser and happy when the pediatrician says "Your child is hitting his milestones perfectly, he's completely on track."
Blissfully unaware that he is actually behind.
Shame on those parents. You would think parents would be looking for their children to be the best and brightest of their age group, knowing that is the key to success.

I've been waiting for the declaration that toddlers only learn to walk in daycare, and parents are incapable of teaching them to walk at home.
Probably about a decade away from that one.
What I find hilarious in a sad way is when parents claim that they don't know enough to homeschool. Um, you went to public school right? So if your public school didn't teach you enough to teach you child, why are you sending your child there?
After the constant fear-mongering, taking over areas they had no legal right to(remember the Eviction Moritorium), you are seriously asking since when?

Civilization did just fine, but governments had trouble corralling the peasantry into fighting its wars and accepting the various theft/redistribution schemes, hence the govt education center.
We can now add acceptance of the pharmaceutical industrial complex to the myriad of ways to fleece the sheep.
Such BS. Anyone who clicks on the original twitchy link will see it ultimately sources to the exact same CDC material.
So tired of the "Right Wing Media is Fake" bologna.
Your media is fake, and over half the country knows it.
This tired, haggard "I'm an elitist intellectual" approach not only doesn't work, it actually pushes people away.
So keep on truckin' I guess?
It's quite interesting how "elitist intellectuals" can never figure out what the primary source of information is.
They seem to think the MSM outlet *is* the primary source. It's not. It's just a reporting outlet. Facts and information come from sources, the MSM just reports it--or doesn't. Same with every. other. alt / independent /non MSM reporting outlet on the planet. Facts are important.
I often wonder who taught them how to research. Because none of them are able to find facts. /shrug/

A lot of it is also the reflexive dismissal of anything that causes cognitive dissonance, because it challenges their pre-conceived notions of reality.
IE they are narrow minded and don't actually consider alternative viewpoints.
They're NPCs, and most of them are programmed to believe they know it all when - in fact - they know very little.
I should know, I used to be one of them.
