WELLINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - New Zealand on Monday abandoned its long-standing strategy of eliminating coronavirus amid a persistent Delta outbreak, and will instead look to live with the virus and control its spread as its vaccination rate rises.

The Pacific nation was among just a handful of countries to bring COVID-19 cases down to zero last year and largely stayed virus-free until an outbreak of the highly infectious Delta variant in mid-August frustrated efforts to stamp out transmission.

"With this outbreak and Delta the return to zero is incredibly difficult," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told a news conference in a major policy shift.

The next question is how long will American liberals cling to the failed strategy of lockdowns and "mitigation"?

If the goal is reducing COVID, they would have scrapped it long ago. There is evidence that the liberal elites aren't overly concerned about it - Obama's birthday bash for example.

Now if the goal is agitating the public and seeking to change the foundations of the country through a crisis, they will wring every last drip out of the COVID mitigation schemes.

It was clear in the spring of 2020 that lockdowns and masks don’t work.

But Trump was the President back then, so the goal was to purposefully trash the economy and kill freedom and orchestrate racial outrage which led to looting and violence.

Of course, liberal governments like New Zealand were complicit in helping Biden get elected. The State Department led the charge on mobilizing the world against Trump.

Alternate title: government switches from baseball bats to tire irons to beat its people.

Ah, the old “the entire world played up Covid to ruin Trump” angle.

Been quite awhile since I heard that one.

Meh.
New Zealand isn't the United States. Different people have different responses to the same disease.

But I thought that the goal in the USA was to control the spread.

I know Trump and Biden speak of getting rid of the virus --- but they aren't the health experts.

I always thought the goal was to mitigate/slow the spread to avoid overburdening health care resources and to try and mitigate the death rate.

Live your lives people, get healthy, eat better and exercise, get off of social media, get the vaccine if you want, it should be your choice. Natural immunity is just as good

Morons. You cannot eradicate this virus. It’s a flu.
We’re being played. Too bad the majority of people trust the government.

Reminder - PCR test can't distinguish between COVID and influenza... per the CDC when they recalled the PCR test.

07/21/2021: Lab Alert: Changes to CDC RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2 Testing

In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season.

In other words, the underlined is a different way of saying that the PCR test can't differentiate between the two - and they need to fond a test that can distinguish between the two.

That's probably why Gates and Soros jumped into the COVID testing industry.
