yes republicans think only their viewpoints are valid and patriotic...a shift from a 1960 john Wayne quote concerning that election "well" JFK is my president even tho i didn't vote for him
trump people especially have hijacked the Flag for their own purposes some people think the flag projects trump person..the article explains this
If the right “hijacked “ the flag, maybe because the left has disrespected, trashed, burned and get offended by the flag.
Explain why so many of us are flying the American flag then. Mine is hanging from the balcony. I see another one across the way on another balcony with flowers around it. We have parades and people carry the flag. The town is all decked out in flags on the houses and buildings. The streets are lined with American flags.
SOME Repubs. think they are the only patriotic Americans. Happy 4th of July and please, let us all come together someday.
Then call out the woke Democrats that likes to burn the flag and claim to be offended by the flag.
Who cares? Why does the left get to decide what is offensive and what isn't? There's only so far they can go with that before people will just say "fine, be offended then".
I went to the beach today to see the military flyover on the beach.
There was so much red, white and blue ....tshirts, bathing suits, flags, blankets and even umbrellas.
And when those F16's flew over to start the event, everyone started cheering and waving.
I personally found the sight of people storming the Capitol building while draped in the American flag to be a desecration of that symbol, so I can understand why there would be some internal conflicts. I certainly don't find the flag offensive, but it has been put to some highly offensive uses.

As a member of "the left", I assure you I don't disdain people who waving stars and stripes from their front porch, or having stickers on their bumper or rear window merely for doing so. I also detest desecration of the flag, even if it is protected free speech. But - civil liberties and good tastes are two separate issues (even if they do overlap to some degree).
As for desecration, seems to me that putting a political leader or party's name on a flag is much more desecrating than even mere burning of the flag. At least a burned flag literally goes down in flames as it is, rather than as part of a (let's face it) propaganda/marketing tool saying "You either support America and this person or party or you reject them both". How the hell is that patriotic?

Who put a name on the American flag?
