Peaceful protest? With guns? WTH? Sounds like they're trying to intimidate. But we all know they're just foolish since nobody is gonna shoot anybody. Idiots all.

Anyway, what rights are being taken away?
Many. Our right of free assembly and life, liberty and pursuit of happiness along with others.

The presence of guns is a thread of terror. Guns are not necessary to "peaceful" protests. They were looking for a fight. And since they don't seem to have brains, they have to rely on guns.
No, carrying guns legally is not a threat of terror. Check the law. Did they shoot anyone?

But someone suggested it is illegal to enter a federal building with a gun?

Is that not true.

I don't know.

I don't understand what carrying the gun has to do with protesting that they can't buy paint.

There is a clear distinction between public assembly and protest — protected by the federal Constitution — and threats of insurrection.

These were armed hoodlums in tactical gear occupying a state capitol. This was an appalling, disgraceful and dangerous exhibition of extremism. This wasn't about democracy. It wasn't about the second amendment. It wasn't about gun ownership. It wasn't about free speech.

It was all about intimidation. Armed protest and threats of insurrection, domestic violence & intimidation. This is not what we do in our country.

The simple fact is that an armed citizenry is not the basis for our freedoms. Our freedoms rest on a moral consensus, enshrined in law, that in a democratic republic we work out our differences through reasoned, and sometimes raucous, argument. Free elections and open debate are not rooted in violence or the threat of violence. They are precisely the alternative to violence.

Violence and the threat of violence have always been used by those who wanted to bypass democratic procedures and the rule of law...if we can't draw the line at the threat of violence, democracy begins to disintegrate.

This has surely brought nutburgers out of the wood work, best way to convince people that you are an idiot is to carry a gun and wear fatigues to a protest to go back to work.

You don't have to imagine. It has happened before.

And very often, they never fix the problem at all. They just create bigger, longer lasting problems to distract you from the original problem that probably would have gone away on it's own in time.

That's also how governments grow bigger and more out of control, while sucking the lifeblood out of it's host nation and people.
And what is it exactly they’ve never been allowed to do before?

There were shutdowns during the Spanish Flu pandemic.
There was rationing and other restrictions during WWII.
There’ve been all sorts of restrictions governing travel since 9/11.

So, what’s new and different now?
