I recall, for I am pretty old, when the Black Panthers exercised their Constitutional Right to carry firearms into the Sacramento state Capital back in 1968.
California (then rather conservative, save for Berkeley) went crazy, and outlawed such.
However, blacks holding guns is quite different, is it not?
It's not a problem in Texas, apparently. The Black Panthers marched with guns before open carry was legal, chanting about killing pigs. Fingers on triggers. They had a police escort the entire way, but they were not interfered with at all.
In Dallas, a black gun club did a very peaceful, orderly march open carrying (to protest lack of open carry being lawful) and also were not disturbed.
Just last year, blacks taking a knee seemed to be considered almost a capital offense by many of the same people defending these protestors.
Funny times we’re living in, no?
Yeah, but that is because THE FLAG is like holy to some people. My brother loves black people and he loves football, but he stopped watching in protest of the protests.
Can you please stop thinking about how to tell more people how to live, what they can and cannot say, what guns they can and cannot own and how much wealth it is fair for them to possess. I am so tired of leftists telling us how think, feel and what to say. We are free people and we owe nothing to the “feelings” of a leftist. You use this virus as a club to beat us with....we do net care, we are selfish etc. We are done listening to this rhetoric. This is not the Black Death. You people have destroyed the country for nothing and now conveniently socialism waits in the wings to save the day. That was the plan all along. The real reasons for the lockdowns has to do with paving the way for socialism.
I will continue to selfishly gaurd my freedom. I would however gladly and selflessly give my life to defend everyone’s freedoms. Nothing is more precious to an American than freedom. I’m not sure you would understand that however.
I don't agree with this post, but I'm responding to it to highlight something. When you ban SEEDS to grow FOOD as 'non-essential' even folks who are not conspiracy minded are going to react like say what now? What is this really about? I can spend all day in Walmart supporting big ag and the huge walmart corporation, but I can't grow my own forking food?
THAT was the breaking point and when protesters went out, and I can't say I wouldn't find myself among them if our governor deemed SEEDS as non-essential. One of the most essential elements of life seriously.
It's a small group of people, in just one State, in these United States, that if their economy goes bust, they will (the whole State of Michigan) all be in the poor house together. The u.s. Constitution grants its people the right to petition their government and air their grievances. So yes, it is about our freedoms. People don't have a problem with the military defending the Constitution from foreign enemies, but they have a problem with people defending the Constitution from Domestic, when they are in error?
"Many of the demonstrators carried signs reading "Free Michigan" as they called out Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who extended the emergency order through May 15.
A contingent of gun-wielding men even filed into the legislative building as lawmakers considered ways to restrain the governor's powers — especially her ability to extend an emergency declaration.

"We can no longer allow one person to make decisions for 10 million people," said Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey."

If the governor has over extended their 'legal' authority, it is not the right of the people to take them to task? We are not China, where as there are armed personnel standing out on our streets to force us into our homes --- but you can keep working on it, if that is what you want to have happen. (trust rival countries are watching to see just what we do and if the American citizen is willing to kneel) In Michigan wants are simple --- they want to leave their homes, go back to work, put food on their tables and clothes on their backs, with a roof over their heads and keep their State above financial waters ...
On the broader scale ...the Federal level where as all States in these Unites States are effected by our economy and how well it holds up under pressure ... the u.s. is a debt based economy living off of credit. If Michigan's economy collapses ... it all just a house of cards, from there.
"... the U.S. Treasury Department has to issue Treasury bills, notes, and bonds. These Treasury products finance the deficit by borrowing from the investors—both domestic and foreign. These Treasury securities also sell to corporations, financial institutions, and other governments around the world.
By issuing these types of securities, the federal government can acquire the cash that it needs to provide governmental services. The national debt is simply the net accumulation of the federal government's annual budget deficits. It is the total amount of money that the U.S. federal government owes to its creditors. To make an analogy, fiscal or budget deficits are the trees, and the national debt is the forest."
And people can't see the forest for the trees ... not even sure if people have ever thought about it and how all this works. Asking what if the virus comes back (and it will) is like asking what if the drone comes back? It does no good to hide in your house ...
It is a competition, where (shutting down production) forfeiting the game, is not an option.
Governors in many states have taken charge, why shouldn't that be the case whether its a hurricane or a pandemic. Does the senate leader want a vote on each action by the governor in Michigan, does that sound rational.
The senator never explained what specific action he wanted changed nor did you, does he want to allow everyone to go back to work. Things are very bad in many states but these protests in the middle of this are absurd.
So answer the question, what do you want the governor to do.
So civil unrest has begun. It's only going to escalate as "lockdowns" continue. Things are going to get so ugly. I fear for this nation.
Anyone who understands this country knew this would happen. The lockdowns, social distancing and much of the mask wearing (maybe that's OK if they reopen theaters and stadiums) are "public health theater."
Now lets see black people try that (with their guns). I've got a hundred dollars that says they won't even make it to the door.
The demographic of these protestors seems to be tilted, no minorities and mostly male and gives me more reason to believe there are a majority of Trump supporters aside from the MAGA hats.

On another note, how did they get past the metal detectors?
Is there screening going on for the building? No concerns about terrorists with bombs strapped to their stomachs, or disgruntled citizens who have gone off the deep end?
There is more than one reason to carry a gun. It doesn't make them cowards.
What reasons are there for carrying a gun other than to indicate that you have the ability to shoot someone?
None of the posters in this thread who are praising these protesters is willing to answer the big question.
Why bring guns to this protest? It wasn’t a protest over open carry or any other gun related issue so why did they bring guns?
You know the answer. Are any of you willing to admit it?
