Kavanaugh has to be confirmed if for no other reason than to show the dems that this kind of crap isn't going to work anymore.
I said it in the last thread and also in this thread ..... The Leftists pushed so brutally against Judge Kavanaugh with such outlandish accusations designed to totally destroy his reputation -- he had NO CHOICE but to fight on. These Leftists STILL don't "get" Donald Trump - he is not afraid of them, he's been through this sort of fire before and he knows you can't "quit".
They seriously misjudged their target - they thought that Kavanaugh would withdraw to stop it before it got worse .. he didn't. His family and friends stand with him.
They thought that squishy Republicans would force him to withdraw (they didn't) or force President Trump to drop the Nomination ..... he didn't. They still stand with Kavanaugh.
They probably thought that it would never get to a Hearing with Blasey-Ford forced to testify - It did.
They didn't count on Senator Grassley - he may sound doddery, but he is sharp as a tack AND he has an excellent staff. He sends constant Letters and posts them online.
They may not have counted on Senator McConnell - who is pushing this forward. Even IF McConnell thinks they don't have enough votes to confirm Kavanaugh -- He WILL force that vote.
Last, but certainly not least -- they sure didn't count on the Anti-Trumper Senator Lindsey Graham blowing up on them. He is enraged about what they tried to do, probably had some inside information from Grassley and it's his Statement has that hearing that is driving a lot of what is going to be exposed.

Actually reading this story my thoughts were the investigators had no evidence so the DA should never have allowed this to go to trial.
No one other than some radical, outlier nutjob thinks any allegation should be automatically 100% believed as the gospel.

Well said. All they have now is turning Flake in to a no vote, which unfortunately seems very doable. I wonder what they are offering him right now?
I believe Ford is telling the truth, Kavanaugh has been lying the entire time, and it’s obvious in their testimonies. Does he really belong on the Supreme Court to possibly overturn really important issues in our country? I want to keep Roe v Wade , and Same-Sex Marriage.
typical democrat, you believe ford because she is helping to try and bring down someone that you think is a threat to your dream court rulings. you dont see reality though.
dr ford said many things that were in fact lies. she cant recall the date, or the place where the incident happened, how she got there, how she got home, etc. she never indicated that kavanaugh was the one that attacked her UNTIL she heard his name when trump nominated her. then suddenly she remembers?

jeff fake capitulated to demonrat pressure to get another FBI investigation into kavanaugh because they thought it would push the confirmation vote long enough to make it a campaign issue, or even push the vote off until after the election where the demonrats could then try to push the vote off until the new congress was seated. at which time the demonrats thought they would then control the senate so they could stop the confirmation.

That vote out of committee was very interesting - you could be correct. Flake hates President Trump, he is good buddies with Coons. It was Coons that talked him into the FBI Investigation that was supposed to set up more delays .... remember delays and drip-drip-drip is about all they have left now.
The "deal" that Jeff Flake got from Senator Grassley was the FBI Investigation (which is almost all the Democrats had to say during the Hearing) - Senator Grassley got the Vote out of Committee. I watched all that on TV - Grassley called for the Vote (Democrats were confused, and then panicked). The roll call began - Democrats kept trying to interrupt, Grassley said we are taking the Vote. Republicans all Voted - Feinstein said to Grassley "what are we voting on?" - he said to Move to the Senate. ALL Democrats vote NAY, ALL Republicans vote YES .... the main thing here was to get Flake to vote "YES" and he did. The Democrats got exactly what they demanded ..... and were miserable about it.
Harris, Booker, Durbin, Coons ran out of the room ..... they knew they were in trouble.
Grassley is a shrewd guy - he did what he was tasked to do. Send Judge Kavanaugh to the Full Senate for an up or down vote. It's now in Leader McConnell's hands ... and he started the clock running on the nomination that afternoon.
President Trump authorized the FBI (according to Grassley's deal with Flake) to do the investigation.
They knew that was coming - the FBI team was already formed and ready to roll (if they had not already been doing that ... which is what I've always thought).
Person to really watch during the Senate Hearings after McConnell calls for Cloture (probably tomorrow) is going to be Senator Lindsey Graham. Cloture won't be called until the Senators get the FBI report and have a chance to review - they probably get it today.

A release to ABC News doesn't count .... the ONLY thing that will count is a Statement Under OATH or a Statement to the FBI (which amounts to the same thing).
They boyfriend of Blasey Ford DID give his Statement to the Investigators under Penalty of Perjury.
She can't get by with a statement to the Press ....
Has she done so under a sworn statement which carries the penalty of perjury? Ford's ex did provide a sworn statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
