Who are these people you speak of?

What level of education do they have?

What economy did they live in that their jobs were "a sure thing" in their very small minds to the point that they overspent (and maybe over-procreated) while they had the job/didn't save (or further educate themselves) for a rainy day, let alone rainy decades?

Riding a short lived "wave" is what it is….

Not me, when it is a machine, I get the correct info faster. Technology has been a godsend.

lol Not for me. I'm a social person and like actual contact with a human. I get tired of repeating myself because these stupid machines don't understand what I'm saying. And I'm tired of spending time on the phone listening to all the options when a person could just answer and direct me.

These kinds of jobs.

Your second question I don't have an answer for, I am unaware how people spent their money that were in the middle class.

I would rather interact with actual people over dealing with machines, especially when it is at places where someone should be paid to do such a job. I don't go to restaurants to be my own waiter, I don't go to stores to be my own cashier. I am not a free employee, if a business wants me to do labor for them, I expect to be paid for that labor.

I value my time, and I get out faster via self checkout, tablets at restaurants, etc. Got out of Shop Rite after getting 12 items in under ten minutes tonight. I can't wait until restaurant tablets are the norm, and until RFID replaces self checkouts.

It's minimum wage for a reason. 15 dollars is way to high!

Pay higher taxes and expand the welfare programs.
That's called BAU which we've been doing for decades.

11 million illegals are NOT all picking lettuce.

Especially when a good chunk of our fresh food comes from Latin America now.
