Why keep dragging up the pop tart gun? Not relevant. And that kid was suspended over a whole set of behaviors. And why cite it unless you are trying to build a case for idiot behavior by schools?
The kid AND his parents knew what they were doing. Stop defending these *******s

TEX PE. CODE ANN. § 46.08 : Texas Statutes - Section 46.08: HOAX BOMBS

Here is the Texas Statute on Hoax bomb. Pretty clear that Ahmed can't be charged with this. . since there was no indication ever that he attempted to fool anyone that it was a bomb.

1) showed to engineering teacher as a clock, teacher said to put it away.
2) only showed it to teacher because it made a noise, told 2nd teacher it was a clock.
3) told police it was a clock

For it to be a hoax bomb they have to show intent to persuade people it was a bomb. That didn't happen.

This particular story is an interesting twist on the "Police BAD and RACIST" meme that has been saturating public discourse and promoted so heavily by the media in this country for the past few years. And what I find most interesting is that people on the left, who have already proclaimed themselves to be experts on police conduct, are now experts on IEDs as well and are able to admonish school officials or authority figures for not being able to instantly differentiate a genuine explosive device and a digital clock which is housed in a fashion to give the appearance of an explosive device. Simply incredible... the untapped expertise of all these members of society.

But I'm not sure that's even really the issue here. I believe he was actually questioned because he brought a device to school that was designed -- perhaps intentionally -- to appear as an explosive. And when questioned, he was uncooperative and combative. None of us know much about the character of Ahmed, and there are still a lot of questions about how he handled the situation and what his true intentions were. Most of the information that has come out is from the family themselves. Either he designed it to illicit a certain reaction from his peers, or if the people coming to his defense are correct, and it was simply a misunderstanding and hostile response triggered by our evil racist society, then we have to conclude that Ahmed is not a very bright boy. Removing a consumer alarm clock from its plastic housing and sticking it into a pencil case is not remarkable in the least, and claiming to have "invented" a clock in the process is just... dumb.

So then why treat him as some type of boy wonder electronic engineering whiz kid and invite him to the White House, offer him scholarships or send him to the UN, Facebook, or Twitter? Perhaps this ironically speaks volumes of the soft racism and "lowered expectations" of people of color exercised by the political left.

What is with you guys and the pop tart kid? No police and he was suspended for repeated problems not the pop tart.

From the hearing examiner who looked into the suspension...

Again another misstatement of the facts. There is no evidence that he ever was combative or uncooperative...except that he insisted the device was a clock.

He intitially showed the device to a teacher who would have known what it was. That defeats any bomb hoax theory.

Nope he has shown no great talent and the support seems overblown. He did nothing worthy of a White House visit.

On the other hand the story reeks of an anti Muslim bias. Nothing else would explain such odd behavior.

Well - police have been taken to task thanks to increased video capture of very racist events. So everyone is on edge. it isn't a meme or some kind of fiction. We now are capturing people (police) doing bad things in greater numbers and this light into the darkness is bringing much needed focus.

Just because you tell yourself to sleep of fictional stories where no one is racist and police never profile someone for "driving while black". That is fine. What is funny you need to convince yourself that this is some conspiracy theory like 9/11 truthers. . except now its some huge liberal media organization out to get your police.

- When people do something racist or stupid a lot of people forward it. Thank the internet. Its no conspiracy.

They didn't f'n clear the school. The engineering teacher was shown this clock first. Nothing fits your narrative. If they really thought it was a bomb - wtf did they all sit around talking. There was no question it wasn't a bomb. How do I know - they didn't evacuate the school. They called the police and questioned the kid.

Okay - do people not even know what bombs look like? Guess what - they don't have big red clocks and they usually have something that looks like explosive. Woz (from Apple fame) made a fake bomb. He put together a clock. Took batteries and painted them to look like explosive. That is a hoax bomb.

And you continue to pretend they really thought it might be a bomb. If it was a bomb - why not evacuate the school? if it was "supposed' to be a bomb why did he show it 1st to his engineering teacher and that teacher said "nice, but I would put it away for the rest of the day".

there is no indication that police or the school acted in a way where they believed it was an actual bomb

He said it was a clock, and he asked for his mom and dad. What would you do? Source anything more combative than that. Where is your evidence.

along the same vein as questions about how George W Bush and Cheney blew up the WTC towers. i.e. crazy people and conspiracy theorists. No one else.

Which scared female English teacher turned him in? Since she's the obvious racist here, why don't we know more about her?

yeah, I disagree a bit here. As a nation we need people like this to not be afraid to tinker, build, and invent. Recognizing his curiosity and showing kids that America needs people like this - immigrants who are working their way to a career. . .is a promotional benefit.

And THAT is the embarrassing part. These asses are tripping over themselves to try and outdo the next one in their PC attempts to promote someone who did absolutely nothing but rabble rouse for money and attention.
