Let me get this straight: Sarah Palin calls debt "slavery" and liberals clamor to fill her mouth full of s*it. The Pope says that "wealth inequality" kills and liberals are ready to bow down before him?
Negative net worth is generally fueled by debt. This is a fact. Only in a liberal's diseased brain could one perform such ideological contortionism to willingly ignore that fact.
You would do well to distinguish between the cause and the effect. You assume that the cause of someone with low net worth is debt; it may in many cases in fact be the effect. Yes, there are cases where people of varying means are simply financially irresponsible. But in other cases, if jobs are being taken away and being replaced with McJobs that can't sustain the cost of living, then what do you think those impacted people will do? Reduce cost and then take on debt for the difference needed, not because they want to, but because they are desperate and don't see another option.
"Capitalism is tyranny!" said the pope from his golden palace.
"Since his election, Francis has set an example for austerity in the Church, living in a Vatican guest house rather than the ornate Apostolic Palace, travelling in a Ford Focus, and last month suspending a bishop who spent millions of euros on his luxurious residence."
As an ex-Catholic, I can tell you that there has never been a pope like this. He lives modestly and humbly, setting the example he wants his flock to follow instead of simply preaching one thing and living another. In this era where a fraction of the population holds an ever increasing proportion of the wealth, this is exactly the voice we need in the world right now.

so the vatican has sold off its riches to feed the poor?
It's curious that everyone is complaining about this....I'm not a religious person but I know that Christianity and it's central theories line up much closer to the tenets of socialism than modern day conservatism.
Sounds like he is just advocating the principles of the bible.

This is a strain of Catholic thought which goes back to eat least the 16th century though in its most basic form it has existed since the middle ages; that our earthly (economic) interests must be tempered by our spiritual interests and good works. That the OP calls this socialism just tells me he has no idea what he is talking about nor does he have any idea about the history of Christian theological thought and it is kind of sad that I, an atheist, have to explain it to him.
Which of his actions and words indicate he was against a free market?
