He is a Jesuit, which is a first for the papacy and thus far his message is resonating with people that are not even religious, but see his message as one of compassion and humanity. Is it his message that you have a problem with or your claim of it it being hypocritical? Just curious, because some CD posters are taking issue the with the message itself, which I find pathetic.
Most people in here either take issue with, or believe in, many things that to reasonably conscious people seem highly unintelligent, either way. I'm not taking sides on this, I'm only saying that discerning the truth from the BS is a laborious proposition. There's a lot of confusion in this place, online, and the world in general these days.

I love what the Pope said here, and he is dead on right about it.
I mean, this is the message that Jesus left us also.
I am sure many people don't want to hear this message, but it doesn't change it's beauty of validity.

the catholic church is far and away the largest charity in the world , who do you think educated Africans while the European colonial powers were robbing them this past few centurys , the priests and nuns from the likes of Ireland

Anglican and Methodist ministers helped out aswel but they largely supported what the likes of the british were doing in Africa etc

And no, I left the Catholic Church in the dust when I realized that they don't follow the Bible. They add traditions to it and omit things they don't want to follow. Why would I want an impostor, when I can look elsewhere to get the real thing?

always makes me laugh when protestants point the finger at catholics for not having it right

this despite the fact that their are several hundred protestant denominations which differ greatly from each other in many ways , only thing they have in common is their stubborn belief that their brand of bible is the one true way and that catholics are completely wrongheaded

that's what happens when you have no centralised authority , anarchic attitudes

He's been preaching this for over 10 years if you look at his history.
He is now in a position to act on it.
He also said that he must practice what he preaches as well so let's give it some time.
Let's see if he brings the Church back to it's humble beginnings.

And that is why so many right wing Christians hate it. They claim to follow Jesus, while doing the exact opposite of everything he ever said. They don't like having the most powerful religious leader in the world calling them out on their crap.

Did it sound like he was calling out right wing Christians? It did not sound like it to me.

interesting fox news isn't interested in putting anything whatsoever with this on their news web page

hmmm

i donno about anybody but if there was a wager possible on this a few alexcanter chips would be dumped on that one.

what a joke and a half this whole media is.

how about getting opus dei in for an interview on this fox...what are yuh phoney or what ?

pic and choose huh. don't think the herd can't see the BS. I guess it just doesn't go down with all the smearing of the good hard working lower class.

nail the lower class with rude comments, nail the Black community by rude negatively pointing indifferent sht with crass tone( except the Dr neuro guy ,downright embarassing all kinds of many many people, and you guys get opus dei and priests in to explain pontiff stuff on a pic and choose. then the people have to listen to all the 'uneducated sermons'. what a farce. bet yuh all wouldn't give a tip to the pizza guy if no one was looking, put that in your cigar room and smoke it. the pseudo pulpit is now officially in the bin.

Could be some of them are leery giving the history of the Church and how it got to where it is today.
Fraud, deception and outright theft in "the name of God" to acquire material possessions ?

Then throw Ratzinger on the throne with his history, have him open the vaults and bask in opulence and you just drove even more away from "the church".
