Does that mean more white and Asian students get kicked out??
Daily Kos: NYC Mayor: Bill de Blasio (D), "Tests shouldn

Bill de Blasio vowed Wednesday to overhaul how children are chosen for New York City’s elite public high schools, saying the high-stakes admissions test should no longer be the only factor in the selection process.
Tackling an emotional issue for parents and schoolchildren across the city, the Democratic mayoral nominee blamed the reliance on the test for creating schools that he said did not reflect the city’s diversity.

Uh, no it means other factors like grades and class rank should be taken in consideration.

NYC mayor: "Tests shouldn’t be only way kids get into NYC elite schools"

Are there any NYC "Elite" schools that use only tests to determine who gets in?

NONE of them take into consideration if a kid was on his previous school's soccer team, drama club, swim team, safety patrol etc.?

None of them look at a kid's grades? Honors-level classes?

If not, then NYC has a serious problem. Glad I don't live there.

Why would any institution use ONLY a test as the sole determinant for entry? Even colleges don't do that. .

It's just how he put it to make it sound more plausible. You need to look at the real agenda.

He wants these high performing schools to represent the same demographics as the city.
If 1/2 of the residents are Black/Latino then 1/2 of the school should be as well but the school is only at 12% Black/Latino student population.

So I guess he'll need to get rid of the testing for admission and lower the bar and change the classes so they are not so hard.
There's only 3 public high schools in NYC where the really smart kids can go and this guy has a racial problem with that.
Rather than get rid of the testing how's about working on getting the Black/Latino kids smarter so they can pass those tests ?

From the OP link:

Although more than half of the city’s residents are black or Latino, just 12% of the students at the elite high schools — which include Stuyvesant High School, Bronx Science and Brooklyn Tech — were black or Latino last year.

That's only because Communists and the devil have taken over higher education.

How you perform in one day is enough, no need to look at your work for 4 years.

I have never been a fan of standardized testing, it is a poor way to educate children.

one test isnt a measure of ones capability. surprised you can't grasp that. im a poor test taker, yet when the class is over i normally finish with a 87 + grade.

The point is, the mayor wants to replace the test with skin color.
