They've fired people who worked for them for years when it was discovered they had decades-old convictions for something or other. Yeah, insane. Your overreaction is typical of the style of "debate" on this forum, nonetheless.
You have yet to explain why you'd want a convict holding your money.
That would depend upon the crime they committed. Rapist? NO. Pedophile? NO. Thief? NO
DUI? Sure, but not to drive my vehicle. Violent crimes? NO. Dealing drugs? NO.
Life is all about consequences. We are taught from an early age about how bad it is to have a criminal record. The majority of us get it and don't go on to do bad things.
Like with drugs we are taught how bad life can be if you do drugs. Some people are either too stupid or too arrogant to care. I say let Darwin win.
By choosing to become a criminal you accept the consequences if you are caught. Those consequences include fewer options than those who are not criminals.
Some old hippy who got busted for smoking weed back in the 1970s dealing with my money doesn't worry me.
Then feel free to hire a pot smoking old hippy to manage your money.
As for me, I have a simple rule: Those that don't follow the rules, don't hold my money. Duhh. If you chose to be criminal, then you don't get to be in financial services. Duhh. It's nothing but rational policy.
I guess I'm incredibly boring. I don't have a criminal record.
Yes, I would hire a person with a record. Of course it would depend on the crime and the job, but I do believe once someone has served the time, their rights as citizens should be fully restored. I suppose there are exceptions to every rule, but I can't think of one. Obviously, I wouldn't hire a pedophile to babysit, etc, but using just plain common sense, I would not have a problem hiring someone with a record.
Your choice. But to consider this. If it was you that had the criminal record, and you needed a job, wouldn't you want someone to give you a job? Or would you be willing to spend the rest of your life unemployed?

It's your freedom to do so. It's NOT your freedom to hire them to manage ** my ** money.
Well if we included Financial crimes we might not have any Banking Executives left.
Is this some kind of problem?
There's lot of unemployed people in the world, and oddly enough, resumes count for little, in terms of competence.
