The equal protection clause does not apply to same-sex marriage.
Yes it does. We are people too, we pay taxes too, we are human too, we have the same rights as straight people too. We deserve full equal rights and full equal representation by the US government, our rights should not be up to a decision of the majority, ever. Same with anyone elses rights, not up to the majority to decide on. That creates second class citizens, that is not what the USA is about.

More from Roberts: "The Court does not have before
it, and the logic of its opinion does not decide, the distinct question whether
the States . . . may continue to utilize the traditional definition of
marriage."
Interesting. The majority decision supports states' rights and forces the federal gov't to refund $300k+ in tax revenue, which coincidentally the Obama admin tried to hold onto even though they didn't want to enforce the provision in DOMA that allowed them to do so.
Are we sure this came from the liberal wing of the court?
I had zero doubts it would be ruled this way... I don't understand people's anxiety... of course this should be the way... I am surprised it required the Supreme Court to say so.. I am also surprised that four supreme court justices voted the other way...
Amy Howe:
What this means, in plain terms, is that same-sex
couples who are legally married will be entitled to equal treatment under
federal law-- with regard to, for example, income taxes and Social Security
benefits.
