Pennsylvania's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors, support staff, and part-time instructors to dodge paying for Obamacare.
Do you not know what "slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors" means?
Read any other article on the issue, and it is temporary part-time employees, not part-time employees.
Part-time employees get health care from the school.
I occasionally teach at a local CC. I would be one of those folks. Most of the other temp-part-time, have other jobs, either in teaching or in business, with insurance. A few may not. Nobody said this health care plan was perfect (is anything perfect?), but it is better then any of the solutions that have come from the doubters.
For those who claim it is just part-time work, even temporary part-time work, here is what part-time work wroughts. A 70 hour work week, and still no health insurance. Unintended consequences of BIG government action. It is never good. Oh, and btw, six years is temporary part-time?
From the Huff Post article linked earlier in this thread.
Adjunct English professor Clint Benjamin, who has been teaching at the college for six years, pays out-of-pocket for catastrophic health care coverage only and had vague hopes of improved insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Not only is he now ineligible for such help, but the course load reduction will translate to up to $600 less in pay each month. But Benjamin still will be working full-time. Between the college and nearby Duquesne University, he currently teaches seven courses per semester. He estimated he works up to 70 hours per week, but doesn't qualify for health insurance at either institution.
A lot of people on this board ragged on fast food joints for doing this, but the movement has gone way beyond fast food. And most of these actions will never hit the news. Meanwhile, millions of American workers are screwed by ObamaCare and most don't even know it.

A lot of Obama-haters will take these actions, whether required or not. Pretty predictable imo...
And BTW, Obamacare is a wet kiss to the corporate republican base, and a compromise, so there should be no complaints from repubs.
Simple fact and the liberals of this country REFUSE to accept it and/or embrace it:
WE will pay for Obamacare. In order for it too work, MASSIVE tax increases will occur. I don't care what those taxes are. Be it tanning parlor tax, etc. However, it is coming and it is going to be huge. There is going to be no other way to pay for it.
The Republicans did not WANT to discuss the legislation. Instead, they spent their time planning on repealing the entire thing - WHEN THEY WON THE 2012 RE-ELECTION.
Didn't happen. Maybe now, they wished they had joined in a bit on some of those discussions?
What do you mean did not want to? They weren't even allowed to read the bill before the vote. You cannot rewrite history because we will not allow it.
Nancy Pelosi said, "... but we have to pass the bill so that you can, uh, find out what is in it..."
The "source" has a reputation for endless B/S.
Their creditably is zero to most people, except for those with mutton for brains.
So even if they have something with a ounce of truth, their method of 'reporting' will always be suspect due to their endless attempts at 'gotcha' moments that wind up being either a complete lie, or manufactured.
lol.
Amusing, considering.

No, you won't be paying for it. If there's one thing we can without pause accept is that you'll never have the money to pay for it. You won't have the money to pay for any of the other utopian ideas either.
All data points to the US having a GDP of (in 2012) dollars 3.155 trillion per year. Considering thats a 80% reduction you won't have the money to pay for any of that.
The good news is that the rest of the world will be as bleak and underfunded as your own.
You can hip hip hooray whenever you'd like.
