Big Bird and his street would be picked up by a private entity in a heartbeat. The drama is amusing though.

what I find troublesome is the notion that education can only be provided by the gooberment.

Sesame Street is brought to you by sugary cereal loaded with additives, preservatives, food coloring, and diabetes provoking loads of sugar.

The Khan Academy is an example of how much higher the quality of the product produced by non-profit is.

Without education provided by our government, I guarantee we will become a nation of "Honey Boos Boos" and also become the laughing stock of all other countries who have greatly surpassed us in technology and science.

This. We can't continue to spend money we don't have. Everybody's pet programs have to be on the chopping block. Including defense and NPR.

All depends where a country's priorities lie.

It should be pretty simple then...if YOU like PBS, write them a check. Or are you only willing to spend OTHER peoples money? Maybe the taxpayers should be funding Glen Beck TV? I'm sure $1 per person would go a long way.
