Why would a school chant USA when competing against another school in the USA that just so happens to have a lot of non-caucasians? Was it simply all in good fun or was it to imply that the school that is mostly minorities are not from the USA? I think the people that were there would know better than those of us reading an article about it.

Because they saw it as a game between the USA and a foreign country. No other possible explanation.

Yes it is. I was also pointing out that SAISD is very polarized and this is not the first incident of schools within the same school district going after each other with racist remarks.

Nothing wrong with patriotism, however assuming that Hispanic students are not Americans reeks of bigotry and ignorance.

I totally agree...just trying to get some people to use their brains but it doesn't matter...even if they were shouting racial slurs and saying get out of the USA some people would still say it wasn't racist.

Exactly. Where the other kids chanting viva la mehico during the game? I'm thinking so. Probably going back and forth and when one side loses the cries come out. No reason to just break out the USA chant after the game. But somebody got their feelings hurt, somebody lost, and that can't happen in liberal la la land.

No but if the opposite situation happened with the other team it would also be racist or in bad taste.

The example you listed is not comparable to the current situation.

Do you have proof? If you can show us proof I'll agree with you that it wasn't bigotry, untill then you have no case.
