Whenever a Democrat has been president in my lifetime, somehow it always feels like a distraction or aberration of some kind. That's been the case with Carter, Clinton and Obama. Somehow, those presidencies didn't feel "normal" or "right".
Do you think that when a Republican gets elected, then America will once again return to its core values?
I didn't read through all the posts, but here's my answer:
No. We're not going "back" to the way things used to be....not economically at least. Probably not in at least 20 years, anyway.
And what are America's "core values"? I think that's our problem right there....We can't even agree on what our core values are any more, which is why we're in such a pickle.
Not a chance. Any kind of major GOP control again and they will finish the job of turning america into a huge government, huge spending, extreme right fascist police state.
It seems to me we get the choice of a fascist police state vs. a communist police state. Same totalitarian face, different mask.

You must be joking with this inquiry. The last time we had a Republican president, the country was in a free-fall. Republicans stink. This country works best when Republicans have no say in Congress, absolutely are not in the White House, and when the Supreme Court leans Left. It does great when liberal California is thriving, not when conservative Texas is.
Even suggesting that a Republican be president hurts the country. Get serious.
Actually, the 90s were probably the best years this country ever had. We were strong, the only superpower, the economy was fantastic, and things always seemed to be looking up. And Clinton was president during those years. Not that Clinton should get all the credit for that, but the 90s were a very good decade.
2000--present have not been nearly as good. War, uncertainty, division, economic readjustment. The past decade sucked.
2000--present has sucked at least partly because we were complacent during the 1990s. Much of the economic expension during the 1990s was based on increasing consumer debt and low savings...and this has continued to the present.
I think the answer has to be a resounding no. Our problems are systemic, way beyond what one prez can fix. Look at the housing bubble, the causes can be traced back to the 1990's and even before.
America is finished. It's time to recognize these politicians for what they are, and put your faith in something greater... Power shift to Europe is on the horizon for a one world socialistic Dictatorship promising false peace.
This is all been prophesied thousands of years ago in the Bible.
And you don't even have to be religious to see this.
See David Icke, Sonia Barrett, Michael Tsarion et al for more info:
Creation of Department of Homeland Security (biggest new bureaucracy in decades which also federalized airport security so grandma can get bra checks)
No Child Left Behind-centralized federal power over education more than anything since the Dept of Education was created in 1979 (Newt approved!)
Medicare part D prescription drug coverage, the biggest medicare expansion in over 35 years, creating $trillions$ in unfunded liabilities
American Dream Down Payment Act which subsidized down payments to help those who already couldn't afford the loan they wanted get a loan they couldn't afford a down payment on.
The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 signed by Bush in February 2008 at a cost of $152 billion (hey teabaggers, where were ya?)
Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (aka TARP), at $700billion
For those that say other than Iraq, Bush was a good president, you must LOVE President Obama! He's growing government and spending at just below or about equal to George W's first term!
These weren't "mistakes" at all. Presidents are just the employees of the tiny globalist elite that runs the world from behind the scenes. You don't get to be President if you're not willing to do the bidding of the elite.
The goal is always, always, always to centralize power and control.
The Democrats are the "good cops" who want to centralize health care, eduation, social programs to placate the masses and keep them comfortable (so they don't look too deeply at what's really going on). The Republicans are the "bad cops" who start wars in the name of national security, etc. The end results are always the same though, more power and control at the top. And the reason cited is always some need for greater "security" be it military or economic. I'm feeling less secure with each passing day.
