Airlines are expected to have set allowances which vary depending on ticket/class of travel and destinations. Some have free allowance by weight, some by piece and some (like American Airlines) have no allowance other than a carry on (and one on international flights... depending on destination). If you showed up with one bag to check-in on AA, you will be charged for it.
Ahhhhhh, tactic number two. A diversionary answer that really doesn't answer the question.
My question was if they charge me up front for 1 bag which is what you support with your "amen!" and I show up with two what then?
And you should be asking that question to VTHokie, not me. I don't agree with it (see the argument on beer sales in stadiums, he believes it should be that way). Why did you ask me that question?
Why would I ask him? I think his position is pretty clear. I'm asking you because I'm trying to figure out at what point it is price gouging. $3? $6? $9? Should a product always be sold for production costs no matter the venue?

No, you want all airlines to abide by the rules that you agree with, because minding your own business and taking Southwest isn't good enough. Light travelers be damned.
They don't. You pay at the counter for the first. And if you take two, you would pay for both.
I'm not asking what they do. The topic here is legislation that would eliminate baggage fees which you support. If they charge me up front for one bag included in the fare and I bring two what then?
Why don't these geniuses pass a bill that would actually be worthwhile such as legislating that all businesses list their prices up front instead of slamming customers with hidden fees at the ticket counter.

Ahem, you understanding is pathetic. It also sounds like there is no such thing as "gouging" in your world, only profits. But, I expect this of "conservatives". So, expecting you to understand the difference between honest profits and gouging would be an impossible task. Ask, after you've an idea of the difference.

You sure mind a lot of "my business". Hypocrite. If you can't handle what I feel is lame and I would rather not, don't come telling me that I'm forcing you into my belief system. Likewise, I won't be accusing you either.

You are charged beyond your free allowance (one bag). And how do you know they aren't already charging you for even the first bag? You have no way of finding that out.

Why can't you answer at least one of my questions? I even gave you a multiple choice since you can't handle open ended apparently.

It's called a discussion board. If you don't want people in your business write in your journal. Quite a stretch to compare an argument to a federal regulation. That's beyond stupid.

So what is the difference between charging for the second bag and the first one? Isn't it my responsibility to find out what the fees are?
