Why are they not the target of the DOJ and the Obama administration?
How many have contributed to Republican politicians? Apparently that seems to make the difference.

Gibson Guitar raided but lips zipped | The Tennessean | tennessean.com

The company only employes about 500 people but still those are jobs that are needed in this economy. Also from the story the factory is a tourist attraction. How long will it be before Gibson has enough and is made in China with the same wood that the feds are so bent about?
Non-Union = target for harrassement. The Brown Shirts are at it again.

Gibson guitars set to miss Indian notes as raids in US and Europe on Gibson's facilities continue

Exports of fingerboards, headstock, pickups and string-bridges made of rosewood and ebony are freely allowed under Indian laws, especially in the case of string musical instruments. Further, India allows exports of processed timber--sawn, planed and tapered wood boards.
"It's a strong European wood broking lobby that is fomenting trouble," said BH Patel of Mumbai-based Patel Wood Syndicate. "Indian exporters, unlike their foreign counterparts, do not sell wood through European brokers. We deal with foreign companies directly. European wood brokers have always disapproved our way of cutting deals directly."
Indian timber boards, plywood and teak veneers are of great value in the US, Europe and the Gulf. India shipped processed wood and wood products worth 2,000 crore last fiscal, government data show.

Indian wood exporters, led by Timber Exporters' Association, have sprung into action to resolve the issue. "The Justice Department has a problem with incorrect declaration of wood classification. The exporters' association is in contact with the Indian government to settle the classification issue," said Gulab Gidwani, promoter of US-based timber exporter Exotic Woods."

Just another way to pay off China and India. In President Obama 's speech yesterday, Obama mentioned we need things stamped with "Made in America", wonder if he is making a deal with China to put that stamp together!!

Marsha Blackburn attacks Obama for enforcing a law she voted for - Politics with Zack (http://politicswithzack.com/2011/09/13/marsha-blackburn-attacks-obama-for-enforcing-a-law-she-voted-for/ - broken link)

Followup: Marsha Blackburn voted to override Bush's veto of Lacey act extension in 2008, but was the keynote TP speaker at Gibson Rally. I guess, like Romney, she was against it and for it, depending on the audience.

Gibsons are overpriced pieces of crap. A $400 Korean knock-off is of higher and more consistent quality these days. As were the $400 Japanese knock-offs 35 years ago, and Gibson tried to sue all those companies out of existence because they knew they couldn't compete. All they have is a name on the headstock, which is meaningless.

A $1000 Edwards (Japanese subsidiary of ESP) Les Paul blows a $4000 Gibson custom shop doorstop out of the water. Better fretwork detail, cleaner wiring, same hardware, better pickups, more professionally done finish.

Gibson used to make a halfway decent product 40 years ago before they closed their Kalamazoo shop and moved to Tennessee where they don't have to pay their workers jack squat and as a result the quality went to hell in a handbasket.

Ask any former Gibson shop employee their feelings on Henry Juszkiewicz and his "management" style.

Gibson quality is your opinion.
I have 4 currently and have had many others throughout the years.
Why is is that I've never had one with issues?
Luck?
I think not................or you don't know how to see flaws before you buy and avoid that particular one.

Mine have zero issues.

Henry, that's a different animal but at the same time he brought us some good ones that may likely have never have happened otherwise also.

I see plenty of Tokai and Edwards complaints too.
