The comparisons to Carter are ridiculous. Obama is heading into 2012 with a massive political machine and is raising boat loads of money. Republicans getting cocky right now and going to run into a brick wall next year.
If money bought votes he would be in great shape. Carter was ineffectual but at least he had the country's interest at heart. That "massive political machine" had boatloads of money in 2010 too. And remember - "The difference between 1994 and 2010 is - in 2010 you've got me!" - how well did that work out?
Look for neo-prog Obamatrons to get testier as 2012 looms nearer.
I'm a Democrat and Obama supporter. Right now I feel pretty good about Obama's chances. The three main contenders for the GOP nomination are all deeply flawed candidates. After the dust settles and the markets calm down we will see the unemployment rate gradually falling, not as fast as I would like, but moving in the right direction.
The debt committee will be creating a package that is more to Obama's idea that will include more cuts, entitlement reforms, and revenue increases. That will be a big win for Obama and will be a good sell to independents worried about government debt.

I find Perry to be an opportunist like Obama, but he would crush Obama, especially with Rubio as VP pick. Lock down Florida and Ohio for the most part, and very few states other than the usual candidates go to Obama. You can't win the election if you don't win Ohio or Florida. Ohio is ALL about economy and Perry runs the best economy in the nation (regardless of whether you agree on his contribution). Florida is all about the old farts and Medicare is being cut in the latest budget Obama signed, plus Rubio will bring out the entire GOP. No chance with Perry in general. There is NO chance the economy improves, and the people will ALWAYS blame the sitting president no matter what.
You are operating in what we in academia call confirmation bias, as you stated your support for Obama in the first sentence.

Ha ha - and all the while obama will be proposing budget-busting spending for unemployment, payroll tax cut extensions, infrastructure, you name it. How can anyone take this moron seriously?
39% is bad, but we are still a long way out from election time. Let's see how this number looks in the next few weeks when gas prices are expected to drop 50 cents.
The flip side of that coin is we are also a long way from the election to have not already started a positive trend. To get to 52%, he needs to pick up 13 points and since he is so self-righteous and confrontational that won't be as easy for him as it may have been for others.

Perry won't crush Obama. Perry said Social Security and Medicare were unconstitutional. That alone kisses Florida goodbye and ensures Obama another 4 years.

Because he knows the differences between structural debt and fiscal stimulus, unlike you.
