This should be fun thread. Rand Paul, the man libs love to hate, stating something libs have pushed for years. How many will line up and say he's right?

Ok, this is getting weird, this is the second time today I agree with a Republicans (or at least one Republican) stand on an issue. High time Israel stood on its own. I would be less agreeable if he were talking about Korea because funding them actually saves us money in the long run.

You know Casper, I have often said that folks of a more traditional form of philosophical Liberalism (as opposed to west coast limousine liberalism) have a great deal more in common with traditional Paleoconservatives on foreign policy issues, at least in the Middle East than they might care to admit.
I have often tried to point out and have posted numerous links to The American Conservative magazine which promotes a Paleoconservative view as a source of information they might consider ingesting. Probably not going to agree with a great deal of their positions on other topics but concerning foreign policy, I suspect there is much more common ground, not to mention they have a couple of really good writers with far more an intellectual bent than you will find elsewhere.

I have not really checked them out but will make a point of doing so. Heck there is no political philosophy that I agree with 100% of the time and I do not except to actually find one but one that fits my POV better would interesting.

Not to veer too far from the topic, but I think most of us are at least in part guilty of seeing political philosophy as the end point instead of the approach to a subject, this in my opinion leads to this boxed in labeling of "left vs right" absolutism and I think we all know the world isn't black and white but lives more on a spectrum.
(chuckling) I don't even agree with my own views 100%, as there are a great number of things I'm unsure of and still have the jury out on.
