That’s a good story. I liked how you told it

From the mid 80s through early 90s crime peaked. With social media how it is every single crime makes a news headline. Pittsburgh is much safer now lol than it was back then. When Sophie was mayor they debated calling the national guard to help curb the crime around Westgate Village and broadhead manor. Pittsburghs Fairywood neighborhood was the crack dealing capital of the east coast. Jamaican gang members from NYC tried to come in and take over. That was between 1988 and 1991 if I recall correctly. You had to read the Pittsburgh Press, post gazette or watch the local news back in the day. If you didn’t read the paper or watch local news you had no idea it was a war zone. Today pales I’m comparison. We have a lot of people afraid of their own shadow. They read a story on social media and think this is the worst time ever.

Car thieves knew/know how to drive a stick, especially back then. The fact is that unless it’s a sports car or someone trying to save some money and/or gas, a stick isn’t desirable.

Yet you also don’t have proof to what you said. Nice trawler pic.

I saw that and thought about understanding it. Someone ran someone over as they ere being shot at and whatever. Such an odd life, but normal in the hood I guess.

I think you are right.

At this point maybe this thread should die off. I am hoping if Covid ever ends people will mellow out. Maybe kids are just messed up by Covid and it is having huge consequences. Kid time is very social time. Schools being cancelled, sports all messed up and more.

With covid I don't know if there are any good solutions. I guess just wait out the 2+ year storm. I personally think the storm is over, but it won't be in the US. Some countries like the UK moved on. People are now going out clubbing and the party is on.

The crime party is just getting started. Inflation makes it worthwhile for morons to up their crime game. It's why they're jacking cars in the big cities. Pretty soon you'll have to chain down your porch furniture in the summer,
