Every mcdonalds owned / franchised by a certain indian family has had drug issues. Years ago my coworkers were having a conversation about the seediness and shady characters in and around smithfield and wood street. I walk during my lunch and noticed the same thing. I informed them that judging by looks of the addicts, there is heroin and meth being sold in or around all of the mcdonalds in downtown. Months later, there was a bust at the smithfield location and the manager of that location was the heroin dealer. Afterward the owners closed the wood and forbes location and revamped the remaining wood st and smithfield st restaurants. The east liberty, wilkinsburg, and downtown locations are owned by the same group. All employ ex cons from local halfway houses. Could it be a coincidence? Maybe maybe not.

Im not sure. I only use the drive through at that location. If the one in murrysville is part of the group its safe to say that some type if organized crime ring is going on.

I do understand that ex cons served their time and should be given a chance. I just dont understand why the majority of your staff would be felons. Is that good business sense? Are they that sympathetic to felons? I should have been a detective.

No but it looks really good from the menu. Dumpling soup sounds good right about now.

There's a new "Asian" restaurant called Subba opening soon in Deutschtown at the corner of Ceder and E. Ohio (I assume above women's fashion retailer Flaunt?).

Anybody know anything about this? What kind of Asian?

From the menu:
Beef stroganoff (french fries inside a rich and delicious broth tender beef, onions and spices)

Obviously they've done their research on the Pittsburgh market.

There have been a real succession of restaurants in that building at Centre and Graham, I've never been in it however.

I just wonder why they call it "Avenue B" when its on "Avenue C" (Centre).

I've only been to Avenue B once but it was very good. It's high-end chef driven bistro stuff; menu changes daily. No alcohol license though so you have to deal with bringing your own wine.

I assumed that it was named after Avenue B in the Alphabet City neighborhood of New York City where a lot of artists and musicians have lived over the years.
