Oh, and I wore shorts.
I'll second the burger vote - they are very fine things, and def taste better in shorts ...

Looks like they are sorted out now.

An aside, since my mother has moved here, she has been having a hard time finding the following, and could use help.

1. A decent place to get breakfast. She's tried Coca Cafe and Pamelas and found them unimpressive. So far she's liked square cafe the best, but she still doesn't think it's excellent. She's a fan of vegetable omelettes mostly - diabetic, so the "sugar bomb" breakfasts do nothing for her.

2. Somewhere with decent coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I dunno where she's tried, but she's said everywhere she's had coffee it's sucked.

3. The best non-chain bagel bakery.

4. A Jewish deli.

5. Someplace with good pickles.

There are no good bagels in Pgh. I have been assured that by several NYC grad students!
I understand 21st St Coffee in the Strip is good. My coffee consumption is minimal these days, though.

For 1 & 2 she could try 'Zenith' on the southside followed by 'big dog coffee' which i like that's about a block away.

It doesn't look like Zenith is open for breakfast though? I know I have been there for Sunday brunch, but that was a pretty long time ago. Zenith | Vegetarian Cafe – Art Gallery – Antique Goldmine

She's been to Zenith before with me many times. She's a big fan of the "sides" - but not so much the main brunch entrees. The only reason she hasn't been going is we can't really go often right now (they only have one working high chair, and we have a two-year old) and it's a pretty awkward place to eat alone.

She also likes Tin Front Cafe, come to think of it, although she's complained that every entree that has cheese in it has way too much of it.

21 St. Coffee and Voluto are solid choices for coffee. It's true and kind of a shame about the breakfast and bagel options.

I should make it clear, my mom is looking for a place to have breakfast, not brunch. She's used to eating out by herself a lot on weekday mornings. She spends a lot of time with us and the kids on the weekends.
