Larry's in Wynnefield has a good reputation for cheese steaks. They are located near City Ave & 54th St. Basically, take City Ave, turn onto 54th St, and Larry's is about halfway down the block. Make sure you turn down 54th St. on the Lower Merion side. You will know you've come to Larry's if you see the Hagan Arena at Saint Joseph's University across the street. The other side of City Ave (also known as City Line Ave) is Montgomery County.

Well they must have changed since 2000. Because I remember the rolls being delicious along with the met and cheese. My friend enjoyed them so much he would buy TWO at one time

Uh oh! I'm gonna get into big trouble for saying this ... but ...

THE REAL PHILLY SANDWICH is NOT a "Cheesesteak" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheesesteaks are over over-rated. Period.

The REAL Philly sandwich is a roast pork sandwich with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe on (preferably) a Sarcone's roll.

... and stay away from anything on an Amoroso's roll unless you like spongy bread ...

You can't get a bad roast pork sandwich at DiNic's at Reading Terminal Market ...

(now I'm in for it!)

I totally agree about Amoroso's rolls. Don't know why people think they are so good. I like the hot brisket sandwich at DiNic's and Sarcone's makes the perfect roll for it.

For instance I know of a couple of good spots in Roxborough (which is NW philadelphia)Dallesandro's and Chubby's which are across the street from each other, just up the street from Walnut Ln and Henry Ave.
We will be coming from Lake Wallenpaupack. We will probably hop on 95 at Philly heading down to Myrtle Beach.
