I have been to Pat's and Geno's but will be visiting Philly again this next week. Any suggestions along Lancaster in the Main Line area? Moving daughter to Villanova. :-)

Pretty much any pizza joint in the area will have better cheesesteaks than Pat's and Geno's. It's not that complicated a dish.

Yeah, any local pizza place is probably much better than that horsemeat garbage.

Agreed.

For something more than takeout pizza decor, try Gullifty's next to Border's Books in Rosemont, about a mile east of Villanova on Lancaster Ave.

If you're willing to go one exit south on the Blue Route this place is legendary: The Original Thunderbird - Pizza, Steaks and Hoagies

It will probably take you 10 or 12 minutes from Villanova (without traffic).

Campus Corner is right on Lancaster Ave+ 320(Spring Mill). Very good.

If you go west on Rt 30 Paoli and Wayne has dozens of sandwich/pizza shops where you can get a good cheesesteak.

I agree with others. The Philly tourist trap cheesesteak shops are horrendously bad.

I don't agree it's easy to find a good cheesesteak "wherever". Before one of our infamous blizzards this winter, I stopped at a place on Rt. 30 that claimed their cheesesteaks were "Best of" (something, I forget if it was Philly Mag or what). There was a framed newspaper article on their wall.

I get home, all settled in for the blizzard with my cheesesteak...and I thought it sucked. There wasn't enough cheese, but the worst was the roll. We all know the roll makes the sandwich. Their rolls were just...blah. I guess it's a matter of personal taste (I hate Pat's and Geno's too), but I was VERY disappointed!

They have a very nice beer selection. Their prices are higher than comparable places, so I can see why you'd say that.
