Nah ... My opinion is just as valid as any. It's an ugly building that looks out of place.

FIFA released the 2026 World Cup schedule. Overall, Philly kinda got snubbed with only 6 matches, including 1 elimination round (although on July 4th, which is cool).

Final game to be hosted in NYC/NJ.

Yeah, wish Philly could've received one more game out of it. Dallas received 9, apparently, which is even more of a kick in the pants.

Even though it's supposed to be a fair/closed process, I'm sure a lot of lobbying/politics is involved. How could there not be?

That said, it will still be a huge boon for Philadelphia nonetheless, especially coinciding with America's 250th. The fact that the final is being played in NJ is very likely to lead to a bump for Philly as well.

Thing is, the PGA championship is happening in May of 2026. We will be hyping up the "America 250" stuff months before July. The MLB All-Star game will be our own solo showcase the week after the 4th of July. We need to make sure the city is looking prime even without the late stage rounds of the world cup.

Another elimination match would have been cool, but still great for Philly. A big embarrassment (maybe not the right word) is that DC/Baltimore gets nothing. FedEx Field is a dump and was not chosen.

On the Dallas note, a rumor last month said Dallas will host the final game (Jerry Jones was probably celebrating), and now the official announcement this weekend is that New York City will host the final, lol. (as it should be).

Mexico City opens and New York City closes, as it should be, since they are the 2 most premiere cities in North America, not Dallas...

Good stuff. The suburbs performed very well too.

Philadelphia jumps 130 spots on ranking of best-performing large U.S. cities
https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...ladelphia.html

Philadelphia made the biggest jump among 200 large cities in a highly regarded ranking that measures U.S. metro areas on economic performance.

Philadelphia jumped 130 spots from No. 182 to No. 52 on the list put together by California-based nonprofit think tank Milken Institute. It's the highest ranking for Philadelphia since 2012, according to Maggie Switek, senior director of the nonprofit's research department and co-author of the report.

Switek said significant rise in the rankings for Philadelphia was mainly due to a strong recovery in jobs and wages. She said the region's recovery "accelerated" in 2022 and 2023. Philadelphia's job growth from 2021 to 2022, for example, ranked No. 16.

"Unlike other large cities that experienced a large gain in this year’s rankings, Philadelphia’s recovery has not been driven exclusively by its leisure and hospitality industry but rather has included the professional and business services and high-tech sectors," Switek said in an email to the Business Journal.

I'm telling you, if you told someone 10 years ago, Philadelphia county alone making it near the top 50 would have been unimaginable. None the less every part of the CSA being in the top 90.
