Even 10 years ago, who would have though Fishtown would see a high-end boutique hotel. This project looks really cool.

First look: 50-key Hotel Anna & Bel nears debut in Fishtown
https://www.bizjournals.com/philadel...a-caletta.html

After nearly two years in development, a 50-key, full-service boutique hotel with a "European feel" is set to make its debut in Fishtown later this summer.

Hotel Anna & Bel, located at 1401 E. Susquehanna Ave., will open its doors on Aug. 7. When it opens, the hotel will feature a private pool for guests and two full-service dining concepts open to the public.

"Fishtown is long overdue for a boutique hotel. Or maybe I should say Philadelphia is really long overdue for a full-service boutique hotel. And I think Fishtown is the perfect neighborhood for this, and the property itself is really what made us go all in," Berkovitz said.

Kinda off the beaten path but that has to be the coolest hotel I've ever seen.

Sorry to go off topic, but I read an article about Philadelphia's changing demographics regarding the immigration numbers.. In our current year, I see Philly is about 38% Black, 34% White, 14% Hispanic, and 8% Asian. How do you all see these changing by the year 2035? Great article by the way, they went very in-depth.

The black and white %'s will decrease slightly and the Hispanic and Asian %'s will increase slightly.

I should simply ignore you, but:

When was the last time you walked up Frankford Avenue in Fishtown?

I think he frequents that area, Sandy.

Unfortunately, I do think that despite the fact that the place is super amazing, the location is gonna be a challenge. Now if it were a block off Frankford and Girard, they'd be opening a second location before long. But that place is in a dessert.

Hope we're wrong.

Mmm. Hope it's cheesecake.

In all seriousness, it's good to at least see a sizable business operation taking a risk. It could very well be intended to expand the frontier of Hipsterdom, and if turns into a destination it may do just that. Time will tell.

Oh, geez. Hello, Dr Freud. Nice to see you again.

Don't get me wrong...I'm rooting like hell for this. Just looking at all sides. Many people would have bet against Fishtown over the years and MANY would have lost.

Fishtown is awesome, but there's been plenty of failed businesses over the years.

I have no skin in game, but I'm not rooting against it. I really don't care if it makes it or not.

We're never going to stay there.
