I've noticed that when most people lock their car they walk 10 to 20' from the car and then you hear the "beep-beep" . Why don't they do it as soon as they get out of the car ? I seldom lock my car but I always do it right away. Has anybody else noticed this ? Just curious.
I always lock mine right after I get out....but I am old and forget I do it, so I do it again about 20 foot from the car.....guess I'm not the only one. Does a couple of beeps bother you??
Probably because they have a cell phone glued to their face. They're in a frenzy and trying to think 30 minutes ahead at all times. Total sensory overload so they can feel like they're on top of all things! It's a sad world in which we live today.

I usually lock my car as soon as I close the door. It's so automatic, though, that seconds later, as I'm walking away, I don't recall whether I locked it or not. So I point the fob backward and give it another click to be sure.
PS to SATX - I've never talked on my cell phone while walking. In fact, I hate cell phones and mine is rarely turned on.

No cellphones while walking to the car, out of the car, in the car, or backing up!!!
I HATE WHEN I SEE PEOPLE BACKING OUT OF A SPOT ON THE PHONE.

Somehow, the person who locks the car from 20' away always manages to do so when I'm right in front of it and it scares the livin' u-no-what outta me. Yes, those 2 little beeps do bug me. I wish the cars just flashed their lights to tell you whether it's locked or not - mine does that and I prefer it. Thank you - I feel much better now.
I usually hit the lock button as I get out of the car and in case I forgot to do that, I beep a double-check as I walk away and put the keys in my purse. The beep helps to find the car when not sure sure which row the car was left in.

Its strange out here too, living in such a small town where people leave their cars unlocked all the time,. or their cars running while they go into Kwik Trip! Ive never seen anything like that till moving here, usually people have armed guards, bells and whistles, alarms, security systems. So sad one has to resort to that.
I dont hear too many of those 'beeps' here, though few and far between, again, because it seems like what I notice in town, people leave windows partially down, or unlocked, or even in some cases, running.
