I've heard it said both ways. Which do OR residents prefer -- "Or-a-gone" or "Or-a-gin"?

Either of THOSE two ways is correct.

Or-e-gun is the most common way the locals say it.

"Willamette" rhymes with "damn-it", in case you didn't know.

I heard some famous Oregon native on TV say ore-uh-gun and that she absolutely cringes when someone says ore-uh-gone. She said, "It didn't go anywhere. Stop saying it that way". Ha.
