I am most certainly looking at the big picture, and applying it to our little community of saw creek. It is saw creek's shortsightedness and concern for impacts down the road that concern me. The USDA reports to saw creek, for both 2015 and 2016, indicated there were no deer with chronic wasting disease. If they were, they wouldn't have donated over 7,000 pounds of deer meat to bushkill outreach. saw creek culled the deer for in-house political reasons, not because they were concerned about sick deer.

MIghtyskullz, your comments are spot on accurate! everyone on this post who says positive things has obviously never been harassed by management or given citations for non-existent violations. if you're not part of the in-house mafia and their favorites, you are right: they are considered a malcontent. and why does management and the board think that when we complain it means we don't love where we live?? we do love it here, that's why we speak up about the problems that concern us!

One of the easiest ways to spread the wasting disease is to feed deer in a development. If they donated 7,000 pounds of deer meat; then you had a very large deer population. Our average deer does not have that much meat on their bones; about 12 quarts. Deer in the wild have to travel greater distances to feed; not from one corn pile to another.

Here is the dilemma; enjoy many deer now or no deer later. You can blame it on the homeowners; but they are simply one small piece of the puzzle as I pointed out before. You are right for now that none of the deer were infected; otherwise they would not have been able to donate any meat. Just do not count your chickens right now. When I talked to the head of our Game Commission there were no areas of PA affected and now: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...05757521851695. It's coming and will be here before you know it.

PS Scroll down that link and hit on the USGS map.

i agree with your statement 'enjoy many deer now or no deer later'. deer and wildlife management is prudent, for the right reasons, not just because our neighbors wanted to plant a lawn. I swear, when the majority of the community agreed to the cull, the compliance manager said "well at least now homeowners can plant grass". my complaint is that SCECA's cull was because of cronyism: the board wanted to placate their "friends". in 2015, the donation of allegedly 7,000 pounds of deer meat is just that: alleged. they killed approx. 300 deer the year they supposedly donated 7,000 pounds of meat. doesn't that sound like an odd amount of edible flesh for 300 deer? the next year, 2016, bushkill outreach declined to take the meat, they had to partner with Hunters for the Harvest, and we were never told how much meat was donated. the baiting stations they set up were on the perimeter of Tamiment game lands, so we know from contact with local hunters, that game land deer wandered to the bait stations, not just "saw creek deer". the deer count for both years was done by the USDA, who then got paid to do the cull. sounds like conflict of interest to me. but thank you for sending the info about wasting disease.

Saw Creek is at it again. Now on their Facebook page, they are calling us a "5-star recreational community". WHAT????? We are an amenity-filled RESIDENTIAL community! The amentiies are for use by homeowners and invites guests. Saying it the other way promotes short term rentals and all the problems that come with that! Homeowners who live here come first!!!
