i dont think that the us senate will pass that bill or the president....that was the reason they comprimised with the republicans on the tax breaks for the wealthy
I just skimmed the bill and it appears that they left themselves an out to the EB altogether if the Federal Government passes the bill that would allow states a choice to use the money to pay off state debt versus paying the benefits to the unemployed. Check out Section 8.(c)

"The intent of this section is to allow extended benefits to be paid
40 as provided under the Federal Tax Relief, Unemplo)ment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job 41 Creation Act of20l0 so long as the payment ofthe benefits does not hinder the State's ability to 42 reduce the debt it owes the federal govemment to pay unemployment benefits."
Since EB is currently federally-funded, how could payment of the benefits possibly hinder State's ability to reduce debt it owes federal government?
Oh, you're talking about the possibility of a new federal law passing. Well, that will have to be a fight for another day. Hopefully, Obama could veto that if necessary.
I'll be ready for that fight and I hope that everyone here will help! Same hard fight...different players

We need as many people pulling for us that we can have! Thank you for what stories you have ran WRAL. But please in the future if this passes, don't let this incident go unanswered...People may forget what happened with EB in a few months, when they go back to the polls. Fortunately, for the ones affected by this totally needless game we've been involved in......WE WILL NEVER FORGET WHO CAUSED THIS!!!!!
Governors secretary had no idea what I was talking about...I had to enlighten her about all that is going on. She thought that house and senate had dismissed for the day She kept saying the bill I was talking about was a bill about trees. I told her it all had been changed today and now was a CR and the EB. I also said I'd put it on the governors facebook
I agree with you both Soleprovider51 and Whirledps. It's unlikely to pass abut we need to stay on top of it and do what we can to ensure that it doesn't.
I just though it interesting that our state GOP already made sure that they were off the hook to pay extended EB benefits if it did pass.
