I am so appreciative of the fact that we live in the Information Age. Politics will have to change as a result -- they can't keep the truth from getting out.
Here's a response today from Representative Tricia Ann Cotham:
"I am so sorry. I am a co-sponsor of the discharge position. It is shameful to play politics with people's lives. I'm very sorry. Please know that MANY of us are trying and advocating very hard to stop this injustice."
I then asked Rep. Cotham if she was aware of move for the House to vote on a separate bill. She responded:
"No, I am not. I have heard rumblings that they want to drug test and require community service."
Tillis could separate a bill from the budget, yet tie EB to a bunch of other conditions.
The problem with that is it could result in court challenges. A state can not make law that contradicts federal law. Tillis knows this. I fear this whole "new, separate bill" thing is another delaying and diversionary tactic.
#ncga House Rules votes on straight party lines to keep unemp benefits tied to budget measure. 14 Rs, 9 Ds.
