The Cardinal retirement community in NH has started site work for their 18 story expansion. We should start seeing it come out of the ground in March. The picture is pretty outdated but shows the location and depth this will add to the skyline.

Holy cow, I didn't realize that The Cardinal was building a tower.

I wished that I owned land between NH and MTX. This is insane. According to the TBJ today (or possibly the N&O), old split levels are being bought for $ 500 K to $ 550 K and being scraped for new houses costing $ 2.5 million.

City of Raleigh and Wake County will get the ball rolling and investigate a downtown Raleigh PNC Arena replacement. Not much is known yet but they have floated the idea of placing the arena where the future convention center expansion would have gone and will require closing several streets. If approved, the project will be constructed in the 2030's. Could cost somewhere north of $800 million all said and done but the money will come from the hospitality fund and not the general public.

Personally, I still hate to see the Red Hat Amphitheater go but a PNC arena replacement will host major concerts so this is a better project than a plain convention center expansion.

The idea is Red Hat’s replacement will be coming to Dix, which seems like a capital idea.

The City of Wilmington has indirectly announced the opening of the new North Waterfront Park amphitheater....because the Azalea Festival has re-scheduled its concert lineup to the weekend of August 19-22.

Sublime and Micheal Franti and Spearhead will play on August 19
The Avett Brothers will play two shows on August 20 and 21

The Amphitheater will be run by Live Nation. Likely an announcement fairly soon for the naming on the amphitheater. This article has a good rendering of the amphitheater for concert use...

Yes the retro look was definitely out of place in a city such as Charlotte that has destroyed so much history. Also, the modern street car looks so much like a light rail vehicle that this extension feels like a light rail extension. I am curiously waiting to see what type of future developments will take place along this corridor. It's ironic that this is called the "gold line" because I see this as a golden opportunity to bring some serious retail along Trade Street.

Gateway Station area is best hope for good retail along Trade as well as a transformation of Elizabeth's stretch near Viva Chicken. Unfortunately the stretch from Caldwell to I-277 is likely to remain a dead zone of government buildings like the Federal Reserve Bank building, CMPD / City Hall, and the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Okay, I am just going to say it. That is an ugly building. It already looks 40+ years old, and that brownish facade isn't helping.
