Aren't you always complaining about how Charlotte is always trying too hard to come across as a big city and distance itself from the rest of humble NC? And now you're complaining about the natural composition of the soil in the area????

You are such a riot.

All I known Charlotte gain from April 2010 to 2018 Charlotte gain 141,074 in population
from US Census 2018..
I do not know if this makes Charlotte a big city but it is 16 largest city in the USA in 1018.

Charlotte is the second largest City in the Southeast after Jacksonville Fla. and only time Charlotte will pass Jacksonville. I will say at Charlotte growth at 18.6% it will go a million by 2025 or 2026. That should put Charlotte in the million city Club. Would that make Charlotte big?

But that sure as hell don't mean it's nonexistent. Go to Bid Ed's on a Saturday morning, the fairgrounds anytime there's an event in town, or Cameron Village. Take a stroll through Historic Oakwood with its 19th century Victorian mansions. Go to Five Points, or Char-Grill, or Ole Time. Then tell me that Raleigh has no "southern charm" left.
Notice I said to the degree or like Savannah or Charleston. Greensboro, Winston-Salem, etc has the same if not more than Raleigh. I know what Raleigh has or doesn't have (after living here off and on for mostly 35 years...since 1985). The other poster seems to think Raleigh isn't building tall buildings (DOWNTOWN) to maintain its southern charm. Huh?

Coming from my point of view, Greensboro is the last place i think of when i think of true southern charm. Maybe outside of the city limits and on into mebane ,graham and burlington?

But i live close to uptown, so maybe that's why perception is so different.

ah yeah, that is a nice charmimg area, and dames is excelent! Alot of nice older houses and the revitalized depot district, a nice contrast to the financial and ball park area. This area has managed to keep it's charm intact vs being torn down for bigger and newer developments like the south side of town..

As I've said before, the closest city with a population of over 1 million people to Charlotte is Philadelphia. Within the next decade, the closest city to Atlanta with a population of over a million people will be Charlotte.
