Yes, I know that and foresee my 6 yr old grandson, who's (convict) stepdad isnt a good role model and a very poor excuse for a 'step parent' (which he doesnt even deserve the term). Right now he is sad, rarely smiles anymore, the emotional abuse he goes through. He may be little and naive now, and a very well behaved, outstanding child, but I foresee a future delinquint, angry, eventually controlling in a future relationship, all because its all he sees right now, all he knows. The ball is in his mom's hands and I can only hope she will eventually open her eyes and see what everyone else sees now, from 'outside the bubble', before it gets too late.

Was it just the generation of denial- when no one went to therapy?
heres an update on thread.
ex brother in law still parties like hes 20, and at age 53 had a near fatal heart attack. his heart only pumps 40% of what it should. So, apparently partying since age 12 does have its effects.

Nobody knows what REALLY drives destructive behaviors - it could be a myriad of things - one person claimed a kid was spoiled so it is inevitable (and the grandparents fault, no less) that he now resides under a bridge. Not his responsibility, but the failure of OTHERS . . .yeah, right . . .

You can be the best parent in the world and your child might have "issues," and conversely, you can be a crappy parent and the child somehow has character . . . would love to hear the theories about HOW that is possible . . .

It really is ALL speculation . . . I wouldn't point the finger too much unless you are perfect and have had a really good look in the mirror.
