So I assume you are leaving a corporate type job? I'm in the same boat, fighting since last year to get on. I would be taking a huge paycut if I get this job... but I keep saying to myself its worth it in the long run.
Long story short, it seems the new Medical Directory at DSNY is basically disqualifying anyone with any ailment vs. in past years they used to let folks on as long as their ailments or issues were't too bad. Now every little thing is flagged. I'm in the same boat.
I know guys on the job with DSNY who were hired with the same issue I have, they are perplexed why in the past it wasnt an issue and now it is. Very upsetting but I guess the job is looking out for itself with all the scammers out there.

That would be correct, I will also be taking an initial paycut but nothing too dramatic. Also I forgot to say that I hate being stuck behind a desk for hours on end and enjoy the outdoors...

Copy that. I feel 100% same as you, just taking a paycut of more than half of what I make today is hard to swallow.
I just got a promotion at my job and the only reason I took it is because it looks like I have to wait another year. Stack this money up and keep waiting

Just got home from doing medical, had the lady doctor..made me squat fast 10 times I think, swinging my arms back and forth fast like I was warming up for game practice lol. Everything looked good from there and the hearing exam...now just gotta wait for the results for the blood work and xrays.
