Since I'm in the academy for corrections while waiting to get called for dsny next year, I have a question that I'm debating weither I should resign corrections or not.
Let's just say this happened in may/June 2017 god forbid (where dsny should reach up the 1600s by that time to send me a orientation letter) an inmate acts up, trys to attack me where I defend myself by using the chemical agent spray. So even though it was self defense, but the idiot still wants to sue me even tho he tried to attack me. Even though the correction department covers you since it was justified, but let's just say it's a pending case while dsny calls me. Can dsny deny me until this situation is cleared up?

Or you could get beaten close to death, get HIV blood/****/**** thrown in your face, stabbed, slashed etc etc and be disabled and not get DSNY at all. As well as getting jammed up big time in your scenario or worse.
Sorry for the reality check, but you have just chosen the worst possible job this city has to offer. The risks you just signed up for aren't worth ****. But that's just me, and I'm the last guy that runs from anything. **** that job.
To answer your original question, yea your ****ed. Don't risk DSNY for anything. Your main problem now is its in your head. You hesitate for one second at DOC because in your mind now when sh*t happens "should I shouldn't I" and it's life or death.
Not wishing any of this on you, but some of you need a big time reality check when it comes to DOC. There is a reason overtime is always available, there is nothing normal about that job.
Oh man, u got a nice number lol, u should be right up in their come September... Maybe I will get lucky enough to see u in their
