Just work your ass off make the most money and wait for your seniority. If that's a issue for anyone please don't accept the job and make it wiser for those down the list. Paycut is a paycut. I'm taking a 80% pay cut to take this job and can't wait to work my ass off to make up for it.
I personally have missed first steps graduations etc to make sure my kids want for nothing and I'm only 33. It will all work out just put the work in
A tissue is a steady shift and detail. You are assigned to specific function everyday the same shift. No one else can bump you off of it. This is typically a garage utility spot, ez-pack, mechanical broom and many other things.
It sounds nice, but you are literally giving up thousands of dollars a year to get that steady spot. Some guys take it because they have another job that makes up for the lost money. Some guys take it because they are lazy and don't want to do the real job(pick up trash) or some don't want to pay their dues like most others have until they actually get real seniority and get a steady shift while making truck money.
How hard is it to get a tissue spot to stay steady if you're new? I'm sure folks who have kids (like I do)might need it as an option.
A lot of junior guys got a tissue last year because they created the skid steer tissue. Can't see alot of them giving it up, they can still make $, stay steady 6-2, and not have to go out of town.
Someone generally has to give a tissue up in order to put in for it. So it all varies garage to garage.
