if you get on this year, ull start at 35,643.. but like the guys said youll make plenty more.. its impossible to make base pay.. saturdays your last two hours are at time and half.. sundays and chart days(your day off) are paid double.. overtime is time and half.. in the winter theres a good chance youll be working 7 days a week for 12 hours a day for a nice stretch.. you get 10% night diff for working nights.. truck money for collection.. and even bottom guys will taste some truck money.. so all these extras make it impossible to make base pay

Woman killed by sanitation truck in Manhattan | New York Post

Got to be careful behind the wheel of these trucks, before they start prosecuting workers just like the MTA drivers...

But the scheduled when your new could be tough. I'm actually making slightly less money now just to have a steady schedule, but to me steadiness is worth it, luckily I don't have children out a mortgage etc. at the moment.

How hard is it to get a tissue spot to stay steady if you're new? I'm sure folks who have kids (like I do)might need it as an option.

Just work your ass off make the most money and wait for your seniority. If that's a issue for anyone please don't accept the job and make it wiser for those down the list. Paycut is a paycut. I'm taking a 80% pay cut to take this job and can't wait to work my ass off to make up for it.
I personally have missed first steps graduations etc to make sure my kids want for nothing and I'm only 33. It will all work out just put the work in

Unless you have a second job lined up the tissue spots aren't worth it man, you will need the extra money!

But to answer your question, it all varies, typically tissue spots go to more senior men, but there's plenty of junior guys who just were in the right garage at the right time and no senior men wanted to give up money so the tissue fell to the junior man
