Fun!
actually, timewise some parts of staten island may be the same, if not worse...some people have to drive to their bus then park and ride the bus or sirt to the ferry cause there's no parking around the ferry, then hop the train once they get into the city.

True...Staten Island can be time consuming just because it is so awkward with the ferry.

Hey what amount of money are you looking to spend on rent? Are you looking to have roomies or do you want to live alone? Whereabouts is your job in Manhattan?

I am trying to live by myself... preferably. My budget is about 800-1000, and as close and safe as possible to Manhattan... (Broadway and 40th approx)

Thanks!

Hmm...well I guess everyone in this forum already knows what I am gonna say. The only place you can live for that price...and very close to the city is Mott Haven. Have you ever considered it? It is off the 2/4/5/6 trains depending where you live in Mott Haven....and it is just a few stops out of Manhattan. The rents are in your range..and its pretty much the only place you can live at that price.

If you have specific questions about the area..msg me. Where are you living now.

Everyone pretty much did see the Mott Haven thing coming... (I'm not hating on it, but the OP should definitely check it out and make a decision before committing since it's not, let's say, for everyone. It does offer proximity for lower cost.).

I thought the OP said it was from Beach 117 Street, which is in the Rockaways (Rockaway Park?) but not Far Rockaway. I had cousins in the immediate area and it's nice. The ride on the A is still very long and it does go through some less than great areas, but I've done the trip a number of times and never had any problems.

Thanks so much!
The express train is the spur off the A train that runs from Broad Channel to Beach 116th. It makes a few stops on a subordinate A train during rush hours, the rest of the time it runs as a shuttle from B. 116 to Broad Channel, where you get the A. It's OK out there and you have the beach but you're talking about a long ride on the A and then a transfer to the spur. Long ride.
