The real NYC citizens are latinos, asians, whites then Blacks have been pushed out by immigrants and gentrifiers.
Most of the white folks you see in NYC do not live here, just a small % actually lives here.
The amount of white folks in Manhattan and BK does not compare to the amount of legal and illegal Latinos living around as well as the new explosion of Asians mainly Chinese and Indians moving over here.
Ask around most white folks working in the city lives in NJ, CT, or Long Island. Any middle class white guy knows better than not to live in NYC and get half of their income to pay for the welfare recipients of this city.
Oh good grief the whites in NYC are second or third generation Americans who are in no position to call recent arrivals immigrants. As for gentrification, whites have always moved to NYC to make it, so a lot of successful older white people have always been from other states For the Latinos, Asians, and Blacks, many of them are very recent immigrants. There a very few if any Black families who have been living in NYC since the 1800s, and most African Americans have left. The Black population here is mainly either immigrant or just first or second generation American.
And NYC is not a Latino or a Chinese majority city. Whites are the biggest group in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Manhattan. 3 out of 5 boroughs. Western Queens is getting whiter.

Hilarious. The super-rich in Manhattan subsidize everyone, you poor lost soul. Who do you think runs the employment centers in the Tri-State area? Manhattanites of course - CEO of JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, etc all live in Manhattan, not CT/LI/NJ. Truly wealthy people want to live in the center of prestige, glamour and culture - Manhattan. Those suburbs are for middle-managers who truly can't afford to live that coveted Manhattan lifestyle with a family. Point is -- the amount of super-rich people in Manhattan exceeds anywhere in the world.

According to IRS data, Manhattan has more million dollar filers than every entire state in the country besides California and Texas. And Manhattan only has 1.5mm people and Texas and California have 26,000,000 and 33,000,000, respectively. And Texas only has a few hundred more $1MM+ filers than Manhattan. And thousands fewer than the combined sum of the boroughs of New York City.
And these are the people who file their taxes in Manhattan -- the highest taxed place in the country. Who knows what the true number looks like when you include the tax dodgers who stay in the city and claim residency somewhere else to minimize taxes. The amount of wealth in the Big Apple is astonishing.

The rest of us whites who aren't afraid of other people will keep happily living in New York City (hell, any city in the world that matters as all top cities are diverse) and continuing the tradition of making it the most important city in the world.

Yes, NYC doesn't need that many "middle class whites". But the same can be said of middle class/poor Blacks and Hispanics. They are expendable as neighborhoods gentrify and these neighborhoods get less racially diverse.
NYC is rough. That's why the saying has always been if you can make it in NYC, you can make it anywhere.
and as soon as i am able to retire (5 years), my wife and i are moving out of here and finding a much nicer, quieter place to live. we've both had enough of this place.
