I live in Ronkonkoma, and am going to the Yankees game this Friday night. Would you recommend that I drive or take the train? I would have preferred to take the train to avoid driving. But the problem is that there seems to be very few westbound trains (at least on the Ronkonkoma line) during the PM rush hour. I would have to leave work early in order to take the train.

If you recommend driving, what route do you recommend? If I take the Throgs Neck Bridge, should I take the Cross Bronx to the southbound Deegan? Or should I take the Bruckner to the northbound Deegan? How is parking by the stadium?

Thanks for your help.

What you can do is drive to Mineola, park your car there and take the train from there.

Parking right by the stadium is a major rip-off. The garage on 161 Street right across the street from the stadium is 35 bucks. You can park for slightly cheaper if you don't mind walking, but I'd take the train if I was you.

Thanks. I am going to leave work early, and take the train from Ronkonkoma at 4:48 PM, which will get me to Penn Station at 6:08 PM. Is that a good time, or do you recommend an even earlier train?

My other question is: I know I have to walk 1 block to Herald Square; at that time, do I take the D train or the B train? I know normally I'd want the D train. But since that is PM rush hour, does the D train skip Yankee Stadium? Which one should I take? Thanks.

Only the D & 4 trains stop at Yankee Stadium...no trains skip Yankees...

The MTA's website claims that the D train skips Yankee Stadium during rush hour in the peak direction. Are you telling me that their own website is wrong?

You Long Island guys are funny.
Look at the hoops you gotta all go thru just to see a Yankee game.
You couldn't pay me to live way out there.

Since you know the city so well, do you mind answering my question? B Train or D Train?

When you get to 145th Street on the D, pay careful attention to the announcement. If the conductor says next stop E. Tremont Avenue, get off and wait for the B across the platform.
