The MTA's website claims that the D train skips Yankee Stadium during rush hour in the peak direction. Are you telling me that their own website is wrong?
During Yankee games, sometimes the (D) trains stop at Yankee Stadium, but I'm not sure what time they start doing that (I don't know if they end the express service an hour early or what). Just pay attention to the annoucement at 145th Street to see what the next stop is.
By the way, last night, I took the D Train (it came before the B train, and I figured that it would be faster even if I had to transfer). The bad news is that the announcements were inaudible. The good news is that there were several people with Yankees jerseys on the train, and it did stop at Yankee Stadium. So, I guess the D train does stop at Yankee Stadium during PM rush hour on game nights. Why does the MTA (or even the Yankees) not publicize that fact? It is much faster than waiting for a B train. Even knowing that the D train stops at Yankee Stadium during game nights, it would be helpful to know exactly which hours the train does stop there. Like I said, listening to the announcements at 145 St can't be relied on, since you can't expect them to be audible. Also, even if you are able to hear the announcements, if you are going to have to transfer to the B train anyway at 145 St (if you are travelling outside the hours that the D stops at Yankee Stadium), you may as well just take the A train from Penn Station, and save yourself the walk to Herald Square.
