Maybe I should just sell my soul to the devil and turn tricks for a living. It seems to pay bills quite nicely. It's not about how smart or accomplished you are anymore. It's about that sweet t & a, that's it.

I also think what made her stand out is that she is different. She didn't come from a northeastern school.

She is working long hours, 60+ per week but she's very happy. She got hired about a month ago.
Blue, I bet you're somewhat mistaken. I wonder if such kind of gimmicks actually land jobs.

Probably, she was the pick of the candidates and besides, others may have fallen by at the idea of 45K and 60 hours.

Having said that, she has a job. In a couple years, she'll be on her way up.

Survival of the fittest, the strongest prevail in the most difficult conditions. Becoz let's not forget, every single day of unemployment is a gap in employment history and is like a time bomb ticking like the Greek default

Yeah, I'm not hating on her either, but I have to admit, when I read that she cleaned the conference room, I was thinking WTF???? That's extremely desperate, especially considering that most employers (in NYC) are going to try to get away with whatever they can with you. She just pretty much laid down for them and took the bone. I'm glad she's happy there and hope she can say that for another few years when she looks around at her more intelligent friends who may have the same job she does, but are making 70-90k/year putting in the hours she does.

I know friends with similar jobs, but they have self respect and YES, they work 50-70 hour weeks, but they're also making 70-100k/year and they didn't land the job cleaning up a conference room. They landed it by experience and abilities. Will they go on to clean a conference room? Sure, I'm positive it's part of their job, but they didn't do that during the interview and therefore set the tone. When you act desperate like that it opens the doors for employers to take advantage of you. It's a learning experience, for some, I guess.

Why even go to college?!
I know what I want to do for a living now!

This is so true! I have learned that the hard way, unfortunately. I used to give my all to these employers, and go above and beyond, but no more. You give them an inch, they take a yard. I remember when I first started out, a lot of older women that had been doing this for a while had warned me that employers will try to take advantage of you, and not to be too eager, because they will chew you up and spit you out. Well, now I know exactly what they meant. And I don't give a crap about the "economy" and all that bs, I am not letting anyone take advantage of me, period.

I also learned this as well. I was eager and wanted to show my employers that I'm a valuable asset and a team player. However, I NEVER cleaned a conference room or went overboard like that in an interview. That's ridiculous. What's next? Will one shine the shoes of the executives that they're interviewing with and give them a foot massage? Give me a break lol.

Who wants a secretary who graduated from Wharton? The reason employers don't want overqualified people is because they will bolt for the first available job and short-term turnover is a burden on a company.

Exactly what I was saying. Blue thinks it's because her school wasn't a northeastern one.

so yes and some no in that area of work and but like all companys you have good and bad in them ..

my boss is a total a---hole but he the Owner and CEO of the company and at times he came become the most total jerk in the world when dealing with him over something ..

here is a perfect thing that set my boss off one day ..it was about parking in the city at the place and we where looking at places for sale to buy and every place we looked had no parking lot attched to them .

we went around and round over not finding someplace to buy without a parking lot because every place we have has a parking lot to park cars in ..

it basically took the realtor to explain to him the extra cost of haveing a parking lot in the city and how much it was going to cost to the orignal cost of the building to have i parking lot ..it was not worth it ..

a couple day later we all went to dinner and he tapped on his glass and stood up and said i'm sorry to everyone at the table and he said this .. one again the team i have around me was thinking in my best interest for me and my company and it grow in the future ..

More "AWESOME" (laughable) job posts. All of them require a Bachelor's degree with some being worse than others.JUST QUICKLY GLANCE AT THE REQUIREMENTS AND THE PAY. Some want a Bachelor's or MORE and are paying a whopping $15/hr!!! Around 85% of these are SUPER bad. These are only from craigslist. Wait until I have time for other sites.

Quite frankly, if companies expect a 4-year degree to apply for one of their mindless jobs, it better be paying near 60k. Maybe even 50k...but anything less is PATHETIC. It means the company CANNOT afford to pay decently and if they can't afford it they shouldn't expect the cream of the crop or put stupid stipulations on applicants. It's like me handing $800 to a realtor and telling them I want a 2 bedroom apartment in the UES.

I encourage all of you to email these companies and find out who they are so we can announce it and everyone will know who the cheap bastards are out there:
