Old 570, the perilous road leading into the canyon of the RÃo Pueblo was closed 20 years ago after a massive rock slide. Long-time Taoseños tell stories of taking the family pick-up truck down this road to cross Taos Junction Bridge and get wood near Carson. They mostly remember holding their breath in fear, while driving back up along the narrow gravel road with a full load of wood, looking down over the steep cliff to the RÃo Pueblo below.

I remember riding on that road in 1970, when I was eight years old and on a summer vacation trip with my family. What a ride. My mom was scared to death, but us boys in the back seat loved the scary ride.
Nice video about New Mexico. A lot of New Mexico scenery.
The Albuquerque-based band Richmond is seeing remarkable success with the official music video for their song "Feels Like Home (New Mexico True)." Richmond is Nate Boitano and Heath Warren. They have been friends, neighbors and musical partners since childhood.
The video depicts the summer-long New Mexico adventures of the musical pair and their friends. It shows them exploring many of the state's treasures. And it's all set to a catchy song the duo wrote about the land they love.
"Feels Like Home (New Mexico True)" has served as the catchy background tune for numerous TV and radio ads all across the state. The New Mexico Tourism Department first used the song in its own ads, and several communities have since followed suit.
I always found the colors and changing rock formations along 550 so pretty. I love the drive from ABQ to Durango via 550.
I've never stopped in Cuba, but one of these days I am going to try El Bruno's if I'm going through at the right time in the summer.
