I left NM in this pickup with a wife six months pregnant and the promise of a job. I pulled over on the way down the hill and took this shot of the Organs before heading out to Nevada....

Default Tularosa Basin from Sierra Blanca - 1969

I took this with Ma's Ansco roll film camera. You know, where you look down at an image that's been reversed.

Default Window with a view - Organ, 1975

I spent some time in Organ after I was discharged from the Navy in '75, a little over a year. My folks had a garage out back that had been converted into an "efficiency apartment" and this small table by the window was the center of that universe.

These two photos were on the same roll of film as the one of Ma a few posts ago. This was the first roll of film I'd exposed in the States since 1971; I'd been gone for a while...

Indeed! I lived there from '64-'77 as a kid.

I don't really recognize anything in the city anymore. Love the area though, but it is a lot different these days.

The resolution of these are not very good but with the rain in Clayton I think worth a post. Clayton lake came up about 13' according to some friends. I have some more pics on Clayton NM site and FB page also.

Taken from the hill before you drop down into the ride to Clayton Lake.

From the far end of the lake you can see its green again and actually water in it compared to the tiny stream it was at that end the last two years or so. You can see pics on the above sites to compare last winter pics to now.

Ill have more pictures coming soon.

Here are two photos I shot recently in Santa Fe. They show the landmark La Fonda Hotel, and and old train in the Santa Fe Depot. Santa Fe, New Mexico, Hot Rod » Petersonlive

Your GTI looks very happy, budgetlord. Is it an automatic or a stick shift transmission?

Yes, the GTI had a blast. Nothing like having turbo boost while driving through the mountains The transmission is a 6-gear DSG "manumatic." Not a true manual, but you can use pad shifters on the steering wheel, or you can shift out of automatic mode by turning the shifter to the right and using the manual that way.

Ah, I have an automatic CVT transmission in my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. It has the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, too. They're great for slowing you down on downhills. Or you can just drive in conventional automatic mode if you like.
