ok, time for some updates! i've gone back to the french bakery a few times & i am still impressed with the place i spoke with the owner & she said they've done no advertising, it's simply word of mouth & they are impressed with the turnout. somedays it's standing room only, other days it's a little calmer.

their store is your basic L shape

let's face it, pahrump isn't a metropolis. we have enough stores here to cover the basics, but any REAL shopping you gotta go into vegas for. some of the stores i shop at while in vegas are costco, lee's discount liquor, trader joes & occasionally a target. each time i go into these stores, i always tell them or leave suggestion cards....YOU NEED TO BUILD A STORE IN PAHRUMP. do they listen? at this point, it sure doesn't feel like it.

so, lee's discount liquor? i've told you for years you would have absolutely no competition out here. instead of coming out here, you've built how many new stores in vegas? well, you waited to long. you now have competition:

Gold Town Discount Liquor debuts Pahrump

inside the smokiest casino in town, they have built their own discount liquor store. i'm partially tempted to go check it out, knowing that i will probably have to shower when i get home & the bottles will have to live outside for a while as they decontaminate

another store that i've heard is coming to town for a few years, but have seen no progress on is tractor supply company. this store will do WELL here. they have finally worked out the details & have made the formal announcement:

Tractor Supply Co. planning store for 4.5-acre site on Highway 372 | PV Times

they are building on a site close to valley electric on hwy 372. while i'm not entirely sure why they selected that specific site, as it seems kinda small to me, i'm just thrilled they are finally coming to town. the sad part is, i think they are going to put a neighbor out of business. according to the newspaper ad, the store is going to be built on a blank parcel of land - hwy 372 to the south, bolling rd to the west, 5th st to the north & west st to the east. on the corner of west st & 4th st is acme feed (Acme General Store: Home of the Dog Food Depot) acme is a homegrown store & they carry just about everything packed into a small building. while i am excited about tsc coming to town, i don't want acme to go out of business because of them. had tsc built further down hwy 372 i think the impact to acme would have been less. hopefully they BOTH can exist in harmony

No where i have ever been is as good at marching to a different drummer than Pahrump. Only problem is that they have at least a half dozen different drummers...Leads to some really odd cadences.
